No...........a lot of people are modest and/or cannot see themselves as attractive, though they are. They are relying on what others say to them as evidence that they are.
They do not want to come out and say they are (may not even think they are themselves) but are willing to share the opinions of others.
Also could be a modest person or one who is not boastful. Look around you, there are not very many really attractive people out there and those who are may feel that they should not boast.
Is it better to say "I am beautiful", "I am totally gorgeous", "I am a knock-out", "I am way past handsome". That sounds like a jerk.
I am told all the time that I am gorgeous, but when I look in the mirror, I do not see it. Many people have told me that I have no idea how beautiful I am. I do not see it.
Do you understand any better now?

Beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder. For instance: To me,
Fifty Cents (aka Curtis Jackson member of G-Unit.
Vivica Fox's ex beau) is sexy. other people say he looks like a monkey. I find ugly guys attractive. They must be well groomed and have a certain roughness about them.
Referring to the ad, I think the personal may have flaws.
It sounds like he/she is being honest.
You would have to meet him/her in person and how you feel during and after you exit would be indicative of what your perception of this individual is.
I've met attractive men but after a few minutes of conversing, it was apparent that there was no need to exchange numbers because they were not mentally stimulating.
I've been dating a man for nearly 8 years that I was not attracted to when we first met but as time elapsed, he grew on me.

It sounds very ego-centric, but they may be simply telling the truth. People say I look like a dirty old man, does that seem odd to you? ;-D

It seems that they don't have much self esteem, as they are describing themselves by what other people say.
