I ask this question because God says "Be still and know Me..."

In some forms of meditation, the mind becomes still.

Meditating in the "eastern religion" sense if blanking the mind and body - no.

Meditating in the sense that you take a scripture and run it over and over in your heart until you get everything out of it - yes. That is what the Bible refers to as meditating. Psalms 119:15 is one such example "I will meditate in thy precepts, and have respect unto thy ways."

The script you misquoted is Psalms 46:10 "Be still and know that I am God". If you read the entire psalms, the writer is worried about everything around him. So God answer that even if the earth should move, He is in control. If the enemies invade, He will win the battle. He breaks the bows, cuts the spears and melts the chariot. Therefore, be still and know that He is God. It means simple to "Shut up and stop worrying". In its context, it has nothing to do with "meditation".

The verse, "Be still and know that I am God" in the new testament is without a doubt referring to meditation.

Jesus meditated after spending time in deep prayer. It's thought that through meditation you can hear or feel the words of God.

Both Isaiah and Daniel describe visions of god seated upon a throne (Is. 6; Dan. 7).

A lot of people do their best meditating on the throne. So if we were created in god's image....

He is asking us to be still & know Him. He doesn't meditate, he visualize, speak forth & things just appear.

Just means to be silent in prayer. Dont always ask/ pray for stuff. Just sit and listen for what God has to say to you.
