You can always keep a box of powdered milk on hand for emergencies.
Three eggs beaten
1/4 cup water
mix together
dip bread into mixture on both sides
and slowly fry in 1/4 tsp of butter
in non-stick pan on medium heat.
Turn over just as eggs set.
cook for 1 more minute
remove from pan and use some or all of the
ingredients below to cover.
small amount of butter
cinnamon sugar
confectioner's sugar
sugar-free syrup
It really would be better to add 1/2 cup of milk,
but if you are lactose intolerant, you could use
LACTAID, a lactose-free milk.
With just water, eggs, and bread, it's almost like eating a glue-like substance or a scrambled egg sandwhich. I prefer adding the milk. Perhaps you could use soy milk, but I find that difficult to drink.
You may also want to use whole wheat or muilti-grain bread or raisin bread for different tastes.
This should make 3 or 4 pieces of french toast.

Yummy! I love French Toast! Most people use a egg and diary or a water mix. This habit comes from making scrambled eggs, because a little liquid makes a fluffy egg. But if you want a good crisp French Toast, don't use any liquid in your mix, and don't fry in butter. My favorite recipe for french toast is very simple and is delicious: Try it, you might just love it!
Have a big flying pan with heated vegetable oil ready, test it the oil with a small piece of bread to make sure it is hot enough.
Just scramble 4-5 eggs in a bowl. No Liquids
Soak your bread, 30secs on each side. (use a spatula, so as not to break the bread up) place in hot heated oil, turning once or twice, and watch it until the toast is as brown and crisp as you like it. Add your favorite syrup and enjoy!

have you tried a milk alternative , or here is another one good question by the way!
French toast - tasty yet low fat and low-carb!
1/2 cup egg substitute
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp nutmeg
1 Tbsp Splenda® granular (or 1 packet of Equal®)
1/2 tsp vanilla
1 pinch of salt
3 slices Milton's® Whole Grain bread
1/4 cup sugar-free syrup, such as Smucker's®
Directions:
Combine together egg substitute, cinnamon, nutmeg, SPLENDA® granular, vanilla and salt.
Spray grill with non-stick cooking spray. Heat the grill.
Soak the slices of bread in the egg mixture and cook on heated grill, turning slices over when golden brown, or to desired doneness.
If desired, top with syrup.
Variations:
Sugar-free fruit syrups or sugar-free preserves.
Or vary it by using fresh berries and/or nuts as a topping too. Serving suggestions and garnishes not included in nutritional analysis.

You don't need milk, milk makes the eggs a little thinner so the bread absorbs it a little more but you don't need it. If you're going to make french toast try making it with cinnamon raisin bread. it's really good.

You could but they will not taste the same.
I use three eggs and a tablespoon of vanilla with a 1/4 cup milk. Try it without the milk and see what you think of it. Whip it with a whisk then dip the bread in it and fry it in a pan.

just make it how you normally would with out the milk. i don't see how it would matter. I like to put a couple drops of vanilla extract, a little cinnamon and some sugar with the eggs to make my toast... it deeelicious.

probably not,cua to make it,you would mix the French Toast with egg,but if you don't add the milk, then all you get is the taste of an egg which is kinda gross.

I use milk, but I suppose you could substitute another liquid. Maybe orange juice...your toast would end up citrusy.
