It's true. We desicrate the land, water, and air. The Earth is a miricle of life. Every living thing is dependant on something else. How will lifw be sustained if the air in which we all need(plants and animals) is full of toxins. People say it's not that bad, but people are dying of cancer and diseases more and more because of it. If you watch on a screen the sped up evolution of the Earth in a short time frame, starting from millions and millions of years ago, the last minute or so(since the industrial revolution) whole forests have dissappeared in less than a second, the air changes color. And if we continue to pollute at the rate we are, there will be less than a second left of evolution before everything is gone(sped up of course). It's kind of scary to look at it that way, the Earth was so beautiful for so long, and then poof, it's ugly. How will photosynthesis occur? Why to we monitor the unhealthy status of the envirionment, if nothing substancial is being done to keep up with the rate we destroy it? Why are we so concerned with fighting wars over controll of oil reserves, if water is becoming more and more pollutted. You should see what is it what we call good water. I cant remember that terms, really long words though, that aren't good. Wars will be faught over water if it get really bad. Why is it so difficult to recycle, it should be just as simple throwing something in the garbage. The Earth needs CPR, Conerve, Protect, Restore. The Earth is a beautiful planet, lets not make it any more of a piece of **** than it allready is.

Yes, I think we are slowly moving towards an international crisis that will affect the next generation of Homo Sapiens on Earth. It is undoubtedly the rise of energy (oil production) that has helped propel our species to the current population level. But it will not be a religious prophecy that will mark the end of mankind, but the will of man himself to destroy life on Earth through greed and war.
One could argue that the monotheists are currently waging war, but it is a war propelled by the quest for oil. The Arabs have the oil by geographic default, and the rest of the world wants it for purely greedy ambitions (Bush). The profits will be immense. How much money do people want after they have eveything in the world already (Cheney et. el.) But look at it from this perpsective also, the largest current population in the US is the Baby Boomers. Those born between 1946 and 1964. They simply had it too good and were spoiled, like the current US president, Bush, whose allegations of severe drug and alcohol abuse are noteworthy. This "Bulge in the Phython" will pass over time, but the damage will be done for generations to come. The world must look to the new European Union for any help in this energy matter, since their level of education is one of the highest in the world, with the US being one of the lowest. We need global leadership now to prevent endless warfare, the rationing of energy in a fair and logical manner, and strategies to protect the very environment that sustains all life on earth.

properly, i will inform you what. I grew up with a new child who substitute into homosexual. He advised me approximately it in extreme college. That substitute into back contained in the 1960's whilst homosexuality substitute into nevertheless a criminal offense. We did no longer be attentive to what to think of!! He substitute right into a sturdy guy, yet he substitute right into a queer and that's all there substitute into to it. properly... 40 some years later issues are so much better. the right is off this huge secret (aside from Senator Craig). 0.5 my acquaintances are homosexual now - nice men - great women - maximum suitable acquaintances a guy would have. yet they are unlikely back into the closet. It ain't happening. Gays are an open and useful area of the textile of existence now. i won't have the ability to make certain this changing and going backwards merely by using fact a team of nasty fundamentalist closet situations do unlike gays. and there is an outstanding variety of as we communicate men like me who will arise for the gays this time around.

The stupidity of 90% of the questions and anwsers on this site point to the fact that most people don't have enough intelligence to wipe their butts, let alone understand the issues facing all of us. History shows us that civilizations rise and fall, it's just a matter of time. Then you have the whole question of what happens when the oil runs out. I'm glad I don't live in a city.

Something will come out the other side, but it won't be like this. We are cheating our kids and grandkids, but we've largely co-opted them into complicity by indoctrinating them into a consumer "to hell with anything else" mentality.

Be a nice little planet for a sustainable, responsible population. But this species breeds like rats and roaches, devours resources, pumps pollution into every aspect of the environment, then blames natural disasters on everything but themselves.

When resources get depleted, rats eat their young. So do we - think about it.

There can't be an end to any Civilization. We may transform in to a different Environment.
In your Micro View few may disappear, but when you consider as a whole (MACRO), we cannot say that we are at an end.

Civilization means the movement towards a sophiscated stage and for that path, there is no end.

Yes. But it will more likely be by war. As resources dwindle, the powerful nations will be more desperate to gain control of whatever is left. It's already happening in the middle east.

no, there's still enough resources.
but!! that's precisely the problem,
these exhausters know that they will not be blamed (alive) for their sin.
they'll keep greeding from the actual exceeding resources,
our children will lack those needed resources miss wasted today.
