I laugh. If they mean it as a real insult, then I'm letting them know I don't care about their opinion. If it's a friend, and they're joking around, then the laugh shows I'm joking with them. Either way, can't lose.

I've never had anyone say that to me.
I've had people tell me on Answers that I'm an idiot because I believe the bible. I understand why they say that, because the things of God are spiritually discerned. If a person doesn't know God, they will not understand.

If it's one of my friends I know they're just kidding, so I laugh. If it's a random person who cares? Why should I let their bad mood affect me, seriously? I don't feel the need to respond at all.
