I've been wearing my hair straight for as long as I can remember. I used to get it chemically straigtened and now I'm trying to go w/ the natural wave b/c its. Last time I asked I got a lot of "air dry" answers and that doesn't seem to help. When my hair air drys it has no style and gets very frizzy. I've been trying to use a diffuser...it definitely brings out my curls but they're still pretty frizzy. Any suggestions? Products? Heat level? How to properly use the diffuser? I don't have super tight curls but definitely a lot of waves...I know it has potential...Help me!

Yes, air drying your hair is a good idea, but it is very important to use the right products in the right MANNER before you get to that stage in order to avoid the frizz.

First, try shampoos and conditioners from these brands, which hydrate the hair without weighing it down, and have some hair coating abilities to shield the hair shaft from extreme humidty and dryness in the air:
Ojon
Ellin Lavar
Panente Resotratives
L'Oreal Vive Smooth Intense
Dove for medium-dry hair

After you wash and condition, the key before airdrying is to put some type of smoothing serum (L'oreal Vive, Kiehls, Garnier Fructis, Ellin Lavar) in your SOAKING wet hair. Then just lightly pat the towel over the hair. Don't scrunch it or rub it hard with the towel - this is where the frizz will begin. If you choose to air dry then this will be fine, if you use a diffuser it's best to still let your hair air dry a bit, then use it on a medium setting, lightly scrunching your waves as you go down the hairshaft.

Start out using a good shampoo and conditioner made for curly hair. This will help define the curls and do away with the frizz. Matrix makes a good one. After towel drying, use a leave in conditioner...make sure to start at the roots and get all the way to the ends. After that, use a blow dry lotion. I use RETRO brand...put some of that through your hair and then either some mousse or gel. I use a lotion type gel also by the RETRO line called volumizing cream. I then let mine air dry while I do my make-up. Then I use my blow dryer on LOW setting and gently scrunch the curls as the air from the blow dryer is drying them. After that I use a small pick to gently lift the curls and pick through them. Then I use a product called MANIPULATER by Bed Head. I put a small amount in my hand and scrunch through the curls with it. It's kind of a thick yummy smelling paste...=) Finish off with hairspray. Sounds like a lot of stuff, but it's important to #1 Protect your curls and #2 Use products that will help keep the frizz away!! Good luck and have fun with your curls....women pay big bucks for hair like ours...=)

I do have curly hair, and I traditionally use a control paste for hair and start right after the shower working a little from the top to the bottom of my hair. Than I let it air dry for a about 10 min and blow dry.

well i straight my hair, but sometime i don't have time, or i just took a shower(not supposed to flat iron your hair when its wet) so i scrunch it with my hands then put mousse in it. It stays wavy or curly [dependng on you hair] all day. If the frizz does not go away get a dove aniti-frizz smooth and soft product. hope this helps

one thing first, if I were you, I would do some serious detoxification for all the chemicals you have put in your scalp all these years. as far as I can remember all the people with natural curly hair, they looked pretty darn good withour doing much about it.(as long as you wash your hair)

your hair is just like mine. usually i like MINE straight, but if you want yours wavy, heres what you do:
wash your hair right before you go to bed, then brush it out and pull it back into a ponytail and sleep with it like that. when you wake up, it will bedry, shiny, and frizz-free. good luck!
