I used yahoo answers categories to make up vocabulary lists so that i can learn more vocab in english because my vocab now is limited,, but also in japanese because i study it. Then besides the yahoo categories..i get more ideas for sub sub categories.. then also i made up some of my own categories.Then to get actual vocab i go to wikipedia or some encyclopedia thing in the web and i search the topic..then i get many words about the subject from articles about it. It's fun.
But anyways, some Categories of words..like Car Audio....Lesbian( i made this category up), Robots and AI( i made this category up)...I'm not involved in this things so is it even worth it to learn?

I don't think you should learn them if you're not interested in them. Especially in Lesbian category, because I'm sure there are not many new words in that topic. About Car audio and Robots... I don't know... :-) I would maybe learn some basic words, and that's all.
By the way, great idea of how to improve your vocabulary!

NO.. it is not worth it to spend your time on this.. there are thousands of other things more important.. If you focus on car audio.. lesbians, etc. you will be downgrading yourself to the students in the US... The schools here are full of that kind of trash and all at the expense of Good education focusing on mathematics, geography, history, etc. Many of the students here are now pretty well versed on sex education, anatomy of sex, etc but they know nothing about mathematics, history, etc.. SO.. NO.. do not bring yourself down to that level.. It is not good and certainly not worth it.

Learning other languages is ALWAYS worthwhile. There are NO hard and fast rules for learning vocabulary. If it is fun for you, then do it. Don't worry about whether or not you are doing it "right". Just do it. If you are having fun, you will learn much more than if you are not having fun.

Sure, I think that if you want to learn something even if you're not really going to use it in every day life, is really good for you. It might also help you look at other things in different ways. You can never learn something that is useless.

very interesting, I think that best of all you have discover than learning is never negatives expanding your scope is useful at least you have expanded my own a bit more good luck, and don't forget, God has all the answers?.
