It seems that a few years ago there was so much positivity around - where did it go? Are we any better off except materially what about our spiritual well-being? Who can say something positive to this?

Are the media feeding us a load of things to fear about and hate so that the politicians are free to con us out of the good lives that should be ours?

I can't answer your question, but I agree with you. Great question to ask! I think that the media plays a big roll in our way of thinking. We hear and see so much negativity, that we tend to forget the positives that surround us everyday. I keep my faith in god and always try to be a little nicer everyday. Always try to be positive for yourself..

I think we have too much material and not enough spiritual well-being. I like to think I am an optimistic person, but then again I am spiritually motivated. I'm not just talking religion. I believe religion and spiritual well being are two different animals. With all the media blasting us from every direction how can some people not help be distraught and negative. There is something to be said for "ignorance is bliss". Society should turn the idiot box off and enjoy this beautiful country more.

Thers lots to be positive about just the media never reports on any of it and so many especialy on yahoo answers are so wrapped up in the media there not out there seeing the real world. Theres a lot of good out there, the media should catch up, then all the mediarites on here would realise theres a lot of good out there.
Tis about streatching outside of your comfort zone.

Human beings are odd creatures.

I think you are probably correct about the 'positivity' thing...and I suspect the reason was largely because ther was such a 'build up' of expectancy (ridiculous though it was) as the Millennium came to an end...that we were entering a geat new era!

The media has a lot to answer for - and amongst their general, and typical, pre-end-of-millennium 'fluff' and 'filler' articles were regular items about 'The Age of Aquarius'... Supposedly a very positive and promising era that we have been entering into' according to those sources that believe in the 'astrological stuff'...

The problem is that Humans are impatient...they don't like to wait for good things...

So when the end of the millennium brought not a "miraculous dawning of a 'new age' of reason and beauty"...but rather ushered in an era of greater than ever political spin, and 'media based psychological manipulation of the masses' - including the constant talk of threats...from terrorists of whatever type... from innumerable paedophiles lurking around ever corner... and in every Internet chat -room... from greater than ever numbers of illnesses (eg Cancer now 1 in 3 people in the West; Diabetes epidemic levels; Obesity; Heart disease...etc,etc.) - from natural disasters like the Tsunami (how many knew what that word meant a couple of years back!); Global warming; Hurricanes; Earthquakes...War, war, war...death, destruction...etc, etc...

So you see - with the built up expectation of somnething 'positive' about the new millennium (rather stupid!)...to the fact that things 'seem' to be so 'bad' (media and politcs employing mass psychology to suit their own ends)...we end up under this current cloud of negativity...

The GOOD NEWS is...that if each individual chooses so to do, they can actually profoundly change this 'negativity'...not judst for themselves...but for everyone around them!

Whilst you may not realize it your own psyche will have been 'brought down' by the prevailing 'Tsunami of negative' thoughts that are swirling around.

If you choose to develop and employ positive thinking, affirmation, and meditative techniques you will not only find the world truly begins to feel lighter and brighter, yourself - but you will actively contribute to turning the negative tide, for all.

I firmly believe that 'positivity' can be, and needs to be resurrected by each individual making an active choice to focus on thinking, and feeling, positive as they go about their daily life (despite daily trials, like traffic jams, awful public transport, rude and ignorant folks, an obnoxious boss, rows with the family, bad news on the tele and radio...YES no one said it would be absolutely easy...BUT it is SIMPLE!!).

...As soon as you personally make a step forward to crystalizing the positive feelings you want - you will indeed find postive things flooding in to your life...as if you have opened the door of a dark room and let the light flood in..

you want the truth, democrats who just can't get a grip that the country understands how the Clinton Adm. hurt this country, and how many times they dropped the ball in getting UBL, are in a frenzy, trying so desperately to take the focus off their mistakes, they bash, lie and are responsible of dividing this country with their misinformation targeted to the ignorant. I am sorry but there is nothing positive about what the far-left has become.

It's still there. The current political situation and terrorism has subdued it, but you can't put the light out. It's a fundamental function of human nature. It's what keeps us going. Hope.

We all got together and backed down all the phony, pretentious, politically correct, bubble heads because we found that after long term exposure, rose colored glasses have the same effect as the glasses Naven invented in the movie "The Jerk."

Go figure right? Anyway... From now on, you guys need to put up or shaddup! And re learn the subtle art of complete and total honesty.

I think so. Ive had 30 days of foreign TV now and being from the west i can see how its blatant propaganda.
Which makes me wonder, would they see our TV in the same light?
Bet they would.

Indeed they are right to not be positive. For what is in our future, who would be crazy enough to think that there is a silver lining.

Only the positive can answer for himself/herself.
I believe in being positive rather than being negative...it actually works well for me.
