what the pope said about islam should at least make muslims think. if muslims dont learn a lesson and start interpreting islam in a humane contex the criticisms they receive will only keep getting worse .
muslims we dont live in a world shaped by tribal desert values anymore, and dont you think its time to change your religion to suit this modern world?

It is high time muslims stop taking the Quran & their other religious texts literally or else their society will remain at that stage only.
For example muslims quote muslim law which gave the right of inheritance to muslim women (In Islam a woman gets half what a man does). This law (as quite a few others) was far ahead of its time then in Arabia. However now in civilised countries where women & men get equal rights, a woman is entitled to the same amount of inheritance as a man. However in Islam a woman gets half.
The same can be said about many other laws.

The teachings of the Quran tells us how to be a human being.
The Human cannot change with time
The Quran guides us in the moral ways like not to steal or lie...
I mean come on...even in the modern world these rules apply.
Its not that the religion is old and whatsoever.
The basics remain the same.
And History repeats itself. The muslims were the first ones to make Universities and were literally more advanced then the europeans who were in the dark ages.
BUt the muslims left everything and the europeans copied the muslims at first and later excelled through hard work.

Agree, the Pope has no reason to apologize, he quoted a 14th century emperor and it was taken out of context. I know of no other religion in recent history that has been as militant, radical, and terroristic as the Islamic radicals. Almost all terrorist acts have been in the name of Islam, all beheadings, suicide bombing, and torture has been in the name of Islam. The rest of the world should demand an apology from the Islamic clerics, and a pledge for them to stop the senseless violence done by these so called true believers.
The following was provided by another member in response to a similar question, it seems to reinforce the propensity toward violence.
Ishaq:544 “Muhammad commanded the people to prepare for the foray [raid, incursion, sortie, attack, or assault]. The Messenger informed his troops that he was going to Mecca. He ordered them to prepare themselves and ready their equipment quickly. He said, ‘O Allah, keep spies and news from the Quraysh until we take them by surprise in their land.'” Fundamental Islamic organizations like Hamas, Hezbollah, Islamic Jihad, and al-Qaeda offer the same prayer today.
Ishaq:544 “Hassan incited the men, reciting: ‘This is the time for war. Don't feel safe from us. Our swords will open the door to death.'” And so it would be forevermore.
Qur'an 9.5 “When the sacred forbidden months for fighting are past, fight and kill the disbelievers wherever you find them, take them captive, beleaguer them, and lie in wait and ambush them using every stratagem of war.”

You are ignorant and Islam is the best! It's a perfect religion with perfect morals. I'll never change to any other religion. I think i'm luck that i am a muslim today because the other religions are false and imagine i was born into one of them.

I think it's time you visit the library near you and learn more about Islam. Stop watching those propaganda news from your country. Islam is not about a world shaped by tribal desert values. Islam has expanded and is not solely populated by people living in deserts.... So get your geography lesson soon and learn more about the modern Islam....

first, criticism don't affect us! yes we are sad to see people saying terrible things about our prophet which is false! read and know about him! then believe in him or not, you have the right to choose... but don't say false about him! we defend him because you falsifize the truth and change it, and if really love someone you will not accept a single bad word to be said about him.

and about changing our religion to suit the modern world, thats wrong... becuase if right, this will mean we believe we are more wise than Allah or have greater knowledge (and he is the one with the greatest knowledge), he knows our hearts and what is right for it, what really help us! and watch out there in christianity, when it was edited (as mentioned in Qur'an), people started to find it was false, and thats why you see alot of agnostics, athiests, and such people who have no exact diffinition of what is good or what is bad (so they are not ruled by a book, so they live like cows & even worse)... is this where you want thw whole world to go? go athiests because all religions will become changed if we changed islam!
read about the prophet (peace and blessing of Allah be upon him), and read Qur'an and think together and alone and think about what you've read... take your own decision (or else your mind will not be free), then don't say bad about anybody whatever decision you've taken.
if you have a deep look into the news you will find that we never said bad about a prophet Moses, Jesus, and Mohammad all are our prophets we love them, respect them and follow them (peace and blessing of Allah be upon them all), and if you said any bad word about Moses or Jesus, you will find us declaring this is false and we will take actions... because they are our prophets.
you people, i only say this and call you to read and follow the truth, be muslims like all the prophets were! i write this and know there are people which will accept the truth insha'allah (if Allah wills).

if u have read it with an open mind, u should know that islam is the only reliegion which is up to date
