Victoria Wood, Ellen, Joe Brand, Roseanne Barr, Whoopi Goldberg, there's quite a few but they are not as promoted as male comedians.
Paramount Comedy channel often have the stand up shows on and they have some very talented female comediennes on.

Jo Brand is funny though, so are Jennifer Saunders, Cathy Burke (Linda is SO brilliant to watch :p) & Victoria Wood - there's loads more

I know what you mean! The only funny woman I can think of is Ellen DeGeneres, but the rest of them are terrible. I don't know why that is, maybe it is because women are supposed to be sexy, not funny.
