It doesn't! I'm from New Jersey and I love visiting the south.

I guess you are partial to "home" like most of us. I am from the south and now living in AZ and hate it here. I would give anything for green trees and sweet tea and RAIN!

I have a friend who hates to fly, so whenever we hit turbulence I tell her it's Phoenix sucking so bad it's trying to draw us back - maybe that's how ATL is for you?

As for me, that's probably where my next home will be (northeast 'burbs, not the city of course...I do value my life...lol)

I've traveled all over the US and have found the people in the south to be nicer than the rest of the country. The weather;humidity, tornados and hurricanes; sucks tho.

Only true southerners can appreciate the glorious South. The only thing we can't stand are Yankees. Go home if you don't like it. Trust me, Southerners don't want you here, no matter how polite they are to your face:)

It all depends on your experience and outlook I guess. I was raised in California and lived in Florida for a year and really enjoyed it.

It doesn't, it depends on what you do down there & whether you prefer hot over cold.
