Yes. Yes Mormons are Christian in the context of a belief in Christ as Savior and Redeeemer, but not in the adherence to the Nicene Council. The Nicene council is where a lot of Protestant churches and the Catholics take their doctrine and some says that if you do't believe in that council you're not Christian. Lot's of wrong ideas and misinformation here in the answers like the "Kingdom of the Cults" reference and the Book of Mormon teaching Christ is not the Savior. The BOM is "another testament of Jesus Christ" and is a history of Christ's involvement with the people of the America's after his death and ressurection, and the times leading up to his appearance to them. Take it from one who knows. Here are some good, non-biased references that are not Mormon driven.

I'm not sure if they place their salvation in Jesus or not, but I do know that their view of Him is quite different from the Christian view. All Christians, regardless of denomination, believe that Jesus is part of the Trinity. The Mormons do not believe this. The fact that Jesus is God incarnate gives Him the power and authority to save humanity. If the Mormons reject this theology--the Jehovah's Witnesses do also--then they are placing their faith in a "false Jesus."

Do Christians have to wear silly underwear to go to church? Do Christians have to avoid various foods and drinks? Do Christians have to prove they are fervent believers before they are allowed into church? Do Christians have to ban anyone from entering church that is not totally committed? Do Christians act as if their religion is some sort of secret society by banning non members from their churches? Do Christians believe they will become gods? Compare the bible and Christian beliefs with the Mormon book and beliefs and it is as plain as day that Mormons only claim to be Christian because they are afraid to stand up as an entirely separate religion! Seen the advertisements with people doing everyday things with the line “and they are Mormon”? Seems the Mormon hierarchy recognize that they are seen not just as an extremist cult but also different to other people! Mitt Romney has publicly stated he does not care about the 46 MILLION Americans that live below the poverty line! What a heartless and cold sect it must be?! Mormonism is closer to scientology than Christianity!

Funny how all the other non- mormon jumps to answer for us.
We, Mormon. as in the "The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints" Do believe in Jesus Christ as our Savior.
Here is what we believe about Jesus Christ:-
1. Jesus Christ is the head of our church, even now.
2. He is the son of God, Heavenly Father's first born, and we are
his spiritual brothers and sisters.
3. Under Heavenly Father's will, Jesus Christ created thia world.
He sat on the right hand of God.
4. Jesus Christ died for all of our sins, and Resurrected, so we can be resurrected also. Without him, we can never be saved.
Any more question, please feel free to contact my yahoo email.

They are not Christians despite what they say. They believe in 3 Gods and that they are not the same. They hold that Jesus is your savior, but that you "are saved after all you can do." Contrast that with Ephesians 2 and Titus 3.

Mormons are not Christian, they are a crazy off shoot of Christianity. They have too many far off beliefs to be considered christian. The book of Mormon is an example of this. Basically they are a combination of 19th century mysticism with Christianity. But again - I stress - they have beliefs that are way too far out there to be considered Christian. Christian Churches will not recognize a Mormon baptism as legitimate, a convert to them must be rebaptised. This step would not be necessary if one type of christian switched to another.

they do believe that Jesus is savior, but not God. and in this they believe in error.
Yet, They believe that Jesus was On the Council of gods and one of many gods. They also believe that Jesus is Lucifer's brother. I don't know how they get around John 3:16 that says the Jesus is the only BE GOTTEN of God.
they do not believe the bible is the word of God but that the book of morman is. this is a scary thing because of what it says in
rev. 22:18-19 I warn everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: If anyone adds anything to them, God will add to him the plagues described in this book. 19And if anyone takes words away from this book of prophecy, God will take away from him his share in the tree of life and in the holy city, which are described in this book.
