when the irani president said the holokost never happened the whole world standed up in his face and all western leaders were very angry..now when the pope insults the prophet of Islam the same leaders think that the muslims are overreactiong?no you are unfaire and this is the truth..you get mad when someone says any word about jews or the holokost and when muslims are insulted you don't move a toe? do you believe this is insane like i do?

I think it is insane how overblown the reaction is. Benedict is an orthodox scholar. He was quoting an obscure text. It is a shame that Benedict is so analytical. But yes, I can see why Muslims are upset. The problem is that we in the West don't care to study Islam. You forget that the Catholic Church has alot of guilt due to almost 2000 years of unrelenting anti-Semitism. Don't forget that alot of Catholics loathe Jews and Muslims equally. There is really no comparison between Hitler, Mussolini, Laval, Pétain, Stalin, Franco, Salazar, and Pope Benedict. Equally absurd is a comparison between Ahmadinajad's denial of the Holocaust and Benedict's perception that Islam is a religion of the sword. I wish he would not have said anything but maybe this will encourage the West to study Islam and Muslim history. I know practically nothing other than the fact that the Moors invaded Spain 300 years before the Crusades and that they were Muslim. Are you arguing that Mohammed didn't conquer by the sword? I was under the impression that he was a warrior.

goddamn it! the pope QUOTED a historic document! and he said only the truth if the truth is an insult than those who are insulted by the truth are damn hypocrites! and no i`m not a christian but the pope didn`t do nothing wrong.
