What about powdered or liquid tempera paint? You can buy it in large or small quantities, & an art supply store would probably have it or can get it for you. You could also check Online.
Below is a place I found Online that has tempera paint at a fairly reasonable price, & it is washable, which means it would wash off of anything you put it on!
Hope this helps!.......I don't need to wish you good luck, because she will love you even more for this! If only all guys were as thoughtful & romantic! Have a great time at Homecoming!!!

How big is the grassfield? You obviously can't paint the whole soccer field. It will be several day's work and it damages the enviorment when the paint comes off. But you can get some cans of temporary hair dye spray (it should be avilable since it's almost Halloween) and spray the grass with it. Alternativelly, you can cut patterns or letters from paper and stick it to the lawn, won't kill the grass and it can be get rid of easily.

They used to paint temporary lines on the school football field with powdered chalk. It's just natural gypsum, so it won't harm the grass. You could get a couple of boxes of white chalk, scrape it against a cheese grater or maybe put it in a blender. Put the powder in a plastic bag with a small hole cut in one end, and "paint" with that.
White tempera paint - the kind used for school kids - may also work and it's non toxic. You'd need an awful lot though! I wouldn't use a coloured paint, it won't wash off as quickly, and you're likely to get in big trouble...
Good luck!

You can use "athletic field marking" paint, which is water based, will not harm the grass, and can be easily washed away. (I'm including a random link to a page which shows a can of the stuff)
You can also use "field marker powder" if you just need to mark lines, though you will need an applicator and is less easily removed.
You may be able to borrow some line marker from the local school or athletic facility; at a minimum they should provide you a resourse to buy some. Good luck

I'm not sure if there is such a thing as temporary grass paint, but good luck with it because it sounds like such a sweet idea!

Highway Departments use this paint all the time to mark grass for various reasons. It not not harmful to grass. In fact, you can buy this at most big stores, such as Wal*Mart. Call your local road department and ask them the brand they use and if they have any other suggestions.

you could easily tint the grass... perhaps try 'watering' the grass for a few weeks with water that has been mixed up with food coloring. this is all natural, and once you stop, it will become nautral again... its like when you put a white rose in a vase, and you give it blue water... it turns blue.
another quicker option would be watercolors, or other paints that are safe for children. This would be washable.
stay away from oil-based paints, they would kill the grass.

It would depend on what you use in the wash water, but generally speaking, no, it won't hurt the lawn. This used to be pretty common. There were channels under the lawn to drain off water from sinks. They were called soap runs, and in summer when it was dry, the soap run often had the greenest grass.

When I was a kid, one of my neighbors used a green fertilizer spray that he got from the movie industry. Check with various fertilizer companies. I'm sure the stuff is still available.
