Jesus is a Jew. Jesus teaches to the Jews (hence the term rabbi). Jesus is the Jewish Messiah. How did/do Jews pray? With their head covered.

Ok, you gave the qualifier in your details: "all the movies I'VE seen"
Because I don't see that much in the movies, I'VE seen.
Movies should never be confused with facts.
If people are relying on Hollywood for their historical information, then no wonder there is so much misinformation out there.
If you want the answer to the question "Did Jesus really have a head covering when he spoke to the masses?" then I would suggest you expand your research beyond hollywood and YA
PS Most, not all just most, hollywood decisions in situations like that are based on how it looks, not how accurate it is. Someone with the authority to make a decision or two probably thought it looked "holier" with the head coverings

In the first place, you can't believe everything you see in a "Jesus movie." But it might have been a Jewish custom for the rabbi to cover his head while speaking.

Because the filmmakers presume (fairly wisely) that in life Jesus (actually Joshua--"Jesus" is a Greek version of his name) was a practicing Jew. Thus he would cover his head.

It was in the Jewish tradition. Remember - Jesus was a Jew, sent to the house of Israel to fulfill all prophecy. Holy Spirit was sent to save the rest of humanity and to convict them of sin and their need for Christ. But, I digress....
