dude. your friend told u right... but u cant go about stuffing the whole trunk. You dint specify whether they are 10 inch speakers or subwoofers. Coz speakers give out full range sound, including subs, but subwoofers are designed to give out only lows, or bass frequencies.
My suggestion to u is get a box made out of 1/2 or 3/4 inch mdf, that aprrox 2ft long, 1ft tall, and 1 ft broad. get the two speakers fitted in it but make sure the box is properly sealed. No air should leak out.
Now at the bottom put about a 3-4 inch layer of polyfill. ( The stuff that goes in Pillows) or even cotton for that matter, but cotton will deaden the sound more...
make sure the speakers are wired seperately and out of phase, ie the positive lead to one, will go to the other terminal of the other speaker.
try out this config with various amounts of filling material at the bottom.
THis is a basic sealed enclosure, that will give u decent bass and mids but bad highs.. so use a suitable filter.

Try it and see. Hopefully stuffing them with something will quiet them down so you won't be setting off car alarms with your bass.
