I have seen this numerous times. I think it's funny when I read a question and have to decipher it. I can understand the use of some internet lingo, but most of it is gibberish.

Apparently this is somewhat of a hot button topic. Of course there are plenty of idiots out there to prove my point.

The intent of this wasn't to me a martyr or spelling Nazi, just a little fodder for discussion.

At one time society had toyed with the idea of spelling the English language as it sounded, but it like ebonics went away.

Those who have made valid remarks know what I am saying. If this makes me a martyr, then so be it.

And I love how some people don't care... The fact of the matter is, in most serious discussion online (generally not Yahoo Answers, lol) you look like an idiot if you don't take the time to proofread or spellcheck. No matter how intelligent or valid your opinion might be, if it's poorly written no one is going to take it seriously.

Yes I've noticed and so has everybody else, probably even including the same people that can't spell. However, it does not and should not bother me, unless it comes forth as a display of one's immaturity (in which case it's almost always written that way on purpose) or it's so bad that I can't even understand the question or answer.

certain, i come across it really stressful. As a first education pupil, the quantity of pupil instructors who won't be able to spell or use written English acceptable is appalling. Its even extra annoying to imagine that they are going to be coaching children contained in the subsequent couple of years!

I notice that and have (unfortunately) come to accept it. I think part of it stems from ignorance, but most of it could probably be attributed to pure laziness.
Another sad aspect along with not being able to understand the posts from time to time is that when you call the person out who posted it, he/she grows belligerent and accuses YOU of being stupid!
At least I feel as if I have learned another new language since coming to Answers!

Do you know that if you post this same question in the Spanish version of Y!A, but speaking about Spanish.. you get the same answers?
It is not only English. People is simply lazy and loves to show ignorance.

The saddest part of that is there is spell check on yahoo too. Hell there is a button in the right hand corner above this box, just for that.

Yes. What annoys me most is the word "grammer" instead of "grammar". I've seen this word spelled incorrectly at least 10 times!

It is possible that they belong to a place where english is not so popular. In such cases, if they are trying to express themselves with incorrect english...it's fine and their efforts are appreciable.

But if they claim to be knowing english and still use incorrect language then they are big fools.

I know what you mean and have been guilty of that myself. There is a spell check on the answer page, but not on the question asking page. They should fix that, I depend on it!
