The Internet is becoming increasingly influential, it has been noted by Science teams around the world that heavy Internet users seem alienated from normal social contacts and may even cut these off as the Internet becomes the predominate social factor in their lives. I
Specifically, introverts who frequently used the internet reported less community involvement, increased loneliness, increased negative affect, increased time pressure, and decreased self-confidence...the internet may undermine or foster well being depending on whether it shrinks or enhances opportunities for meaningful, daily, face-to-face contact with others.

In the case of introverted or socially anxious individuals, internet use serves as a way to avoid being alone and may intensify disconnection from face-to-face relationships.

C'mon folks, let's not allow this to happen..I mean we have become subbjects of scientific study? eewwww..Anyone else feel like a lab rat?

It becomes an addiction that is no different than drugs or booze, people can hide behind a screen and present themsleves as soemone else, alter ego of sorts. It can be likened to the same mind set of bikers who worship Harley's, or people who adore their Corvette, it's a god before God. Have no other gods before ME.

not really. the Internet has provided me with a better opportunity to expand my discussing certain topics with a wider number of people however there are others whom I associate with daily on a face - to - face basis. personally feel as though the Internet has neither helped nor hindered my personal search for wisdom,knowledge and quest for understanding. just another means to search for the answers I desire.

the Internet is just like anything else... it can be used for good or bad... the solution is not taking away the Internet it's teaching people how to use it responsibly...
