Yeah, always install the software first!
If you have cocked it up, just un-install and start again.
If you do not have the drivers, do a search on Yahoo for t680.

the usual process would be

1) insert the software disk and install the software and drivers.
2) Plug in the card
3) follow the wizard

Plug it in, and let the wizard find it, use the cd-rom it came with
