Wow canadian training must be alot better than the training your friend got, wherever she lives. I am a medical lab tech, and if she was trained she would know, the only way she would get it is if the patient had HIV (which would be in the charts) and if your friend herself had an open wound on the same finger the drop of blood touched. But still its a minimal risk if appropriate reactions are taken.

Like Robinhood said, not unless there was a scratch or cut on that finger and the tainted blood got into this persons blood stream. Even if there was not a cut or scratch, your friend shoud have washed the blood off with an antibacterial soap or at the very least used some kind of hand sanitizer. Hope this helps you.....and your friend.

if u mean no needle brick happened with her than this drop of blood was on the skin.if this is the case she must remeber if her finger had a lit cut or wound from which the virus can enter but if her finger was clear the probability of catching hiv is zero bec the virus didnt enter....

Not if she washed her hands and her skin was intact. To get HIV the infected person's blood or bodily fluid has to come in contact with your blood or bodily fluids. Still, she should follow the protocol at her workplace for handling blood exposure, and she should start to wear gloves, and she should think about re-doing her training because she should know that already.

No. You can't get HIV because a drop of infected blood gets on your finger. You can get HIV from a drop of infected blood getting on your finger if it has an opening (cut, sore, abrasion).

She would have to have an open wound where the blood got on her....and the blood has to get into her system. It probably isn't likely. But she should have been wearing gloves.

If she is a med-tech, she had to be wearing a rubber glove!!
Does this person has AID's? Just wash it off. Unless she had a cut or wound!

She should of been wearing gloves. Did she have any open wounds? If she did, then yes. If not, than no. The odds would be very slim that she would contract the virus.

If you have an open wound or scratch yes it could be enough to infect you.
