My name is Suzan, which is Hebrew in origin, although it has been adapted into Arabic. It means white lily, and my parents chose it since they knew that I would live in America, and wanted me to have an Arabic and English name. (I was born in Jordan). The irony of it all is that all of my siblings' names, all of whom were born *in* America, have distinctly Arabic names that are difficult to pronounce in English.

Angela
messenger from God

for Norman

The boy's name Norman is pronounced NOR-mahn. It is of Old German origin, and its meaning is "northerner." The name was used in England even before the Norman conquest, and may have referred to a person from Norway or some other region north of Britain. The Normans who conquered England in 1066 were originally from Scandinavia, but had stopped for about a century to conquer and settle in Northern France, the region known as Normandy, before moving across the English Channel to attack Britain from the south. After medieval use and later neglect, the name was strongly revived in the 19th century. Normando is a Spanish form. Authors Norman Mailer, Norman Vincent Peale; artist Norman Rockwell; TV producer Norman Lear; US General Norman Schwarzkopf.

People call me A.J. but my name is Ahmed.
Ahmed is one of the names of Mohammed the messenger PBUH and both have the most beautiful meaning imaginable.
I know some people might translate that to 'the praised one' or 'the most praised' but this is not perfectly accurate and I don't think any translation could give u the right meaning because Arabic is the most beautiful and robust language ever spoken, where one word might have tons of synonyms and meanings making it like a rich bundle of expression but I'll try to give u the basic idea.
It's like the whole universe is gratefully thanking me for what I am!! Can one's name be any better than this??

My name, Holli means "Holy One". It's a Christian name and I was named this because I was born right before Christmas.

I was supposed to be either an Emily or an Erin but when I was delievered, instead of saying "it's a girl", the nurses said, "It's a Holli"

See my baby, humans are slaves of their names. Can anybody live without one? So when names are chosen and given they denote human eagerness to emancipate themselves or at least to try to raise themselves above this bad feeling or reality by giving themselves bombastic names like mine: Ra'massees which means the son of the god Ra, and my name does not give anything to me because I'd like something to assure that I am the son of my father not the son of this damn king Ra of the Egyptians.
