I think Christianity is not a religion, but it is a personal relationship with God, kind of like a lifestyle too. Some examples of religion are the Protestants, Catholics, and etc... As what the popular verse says [John 3:16]............ For the Christians: why need a religion when you can be saved through Christ?
Religion is some what similar to Politics...It what people think.
Any feedbacks on that? Please do, hehe =D!

Shang_T,
You are right, Christianity is not a "Religion" in a sense of the word, "Religion." If you look it up, it is a religion in other cases of the definition.
I know that the relationship is the key to understanding Christianity. You are right about that. I refer to myself as a Protestant, because I am drawing a line of distinction in the sight of any who have the brains to see it. It's what I am protesting.
But to God, I am His child, and Heir to the throne of Christ, by adoption, a citizen of a Heavenly Kingdom.
The distinction I make is to define myself to others, not to God.

I would call it a movement rather than a religion. Even Protestantism is a movement and say Baptist is a religion. Catholicism is a religion. Either way, one definitely does not need religion of any kind to have a personal relationship with God. All paths lead to the same place. All religions have some truth to them as well as falsehoods. It is up to you to decide what is truth.

I think you're right. In my church, our minister teaches that it's not about religion, but rather having a spiritual relationship with God. Some "Christians" think that Christianity is about religion, like the Pharisees. All they do is follow the rules, but spiritually they are dead. We should be trying to develop a relaitonship with God, rather than just trying to follow the rules. In the Bible, the pharisees tried to trick Jesus by asking Him what's the most important commandment. He said that it is to Love the Lord Your God.

You are right on the mark, Jesus didn't say, "I have come to give you religion and to give it to you in abundance". Christianity is not a way of life, it is life itself. Men created religion, the religion became a competition, and now all religions are stagnating because what the leaders have taught has not come to fruition. Christianity is following Christ, not man's ideas of Christ. Thanks to these moronic preachers on television, the general public see all of Christianity as a bunch of nutballs.

Your idea is sound, however the bible commands xtians to fellowship with one another, to congregate. You are even commanded to pray together. you know the bit about where 2 or more are gathered?
Religion isn't similar to politics...it IS politics.

Personal relationship with God is like saying only God can save you.
When we die we go alone.
The Lord is the only one that can pull you out of sin and the tendency to sin and hold you up.
