Yes, but they've really slacked off in the last couple of decades.
One of the main signs of a religion maturing into something fit for a civilized society is the lack of torture and/or killing in the name of its deity.
Of course there will always be some people who separate themselves from the main branch to form their own version so they can continue killing in the name of their deity.
It's not really about a deity by that point, its really just about power.
The ones promoting the killings and various other insane acts are usually hiding out somewhere and never take a direct part for fear they will get caught and have to pay for their crimes. The bloodshed and immoral acts become an end in themselves. Its a way to make themselves believe they are so much better/holier/righteous then anyone else since they can do inhuman things and get away with it.
Rather like most serial killers, but they have more accomplices.

Yes. Throughout history, Christians would put to death those that broke certain laws. In fact, one could argue that even today some Christians wish to see people put to death for certain crimes. Witch trials, protestant purges, and Jewish forced conversions are all examples of this.
Some would say the crusades is another example. Although good arguments can be made for this, I would argue that the crusades was more political than spiritual. The crusades were started to push back Muslim invaders into christian lands. The kings of Europe couldn't get people to unite under patriotism, so they used Christianity as the excuse to unite people. So in a way, the people doing the killing were doing it in the name of their faith, but the reason for it was more political.

Answer (from a Christian)... yes.
Back during the times of the Crusades (check into the history of Europe) people were killed for not converting to Christianity.
The natives failure to accept the Christian faith (many didn't even understand the concept or what was being asked of them) was one of the reasons explorers from Europe (Spain, France, Portugal, England) gave to killing so many when "discovering the New World" (the Americas).
There are some who HAVE murdered others in the name of Christ..and some who still do- though it is not a common practice at all.
BUT>>>>
killing (even in the name of Jesus) is NOT a Christian thing to do, nor is it asked of Christians in the Bible. If they say that they are told to do it by their faith- then they have their heads on crooked. It is NOT to be done. PERIOD. And someday---God WILL set them straight. (Wouldn't want to be them THEN. YIKES!)

Of course. You had the crusades, the salem witch trials, the Spanish Inquisition, etc. Look at even modern day. You have people bombing abortion clinics, Timothy Levay was supposedly acting on God's behalf. Their will always be some wacko that thinks it is God's will to try and separate the wheat from the chaf. When they die they will find out just whose job it really is and I think they may get a little shock when that first wave of heat rolls in....

Were have you been hiding? Under a rock? Read about the "Great Crusades". Try doing some research at the library or online! Christians have killed in the name of god, stolen symbols from pagan religions to claim as their own, they steal from the poor to become rich every single day!!!

I am sure many people have died in the name of Jesus Christ, I don't believe Christians were doing the killing. This is the defense Muslims use when people call them all terrorists, I thought I would try it out.
Seriously, any murder is a tragedy, whether it is in the name of religion or not.

Native americans, Myans, Incans, No other thing in history has caused more death or more oppression onto the oppressed than the bible. There is blood on the hands of the christian religion yet they continue to ignore the manifest history they teach and claim the righteousness of thier religion.

Yes, it was called the crusade. I am a christian and the crusades was one of the dumbest things done in the name of the Lord. Also the Holy Roman Pagan Catholic Cult killed millions in the name of the Lord. Hitler is very proud of the Catholic Cult.
