Dr. Amen says that the brains of men and women are measurably different, particularly the area called the limbic brain. The limbic brain is the part of the brain that feels emotion. A woman's limbic brain measurably larger than a man's, it is the only area of the brain that is filled with numerous receptorcytes for estrogen.

In addition, according to Dr. Amen, it is a scientifically proven fact that women have many more neural connectors between their limbic brain and the prefrontal cortex than men do. The prefrontal cortex is commonly called the thinking brain. It is the area of the brain that causes us to think critically about our lives, to figure things out, follow through, per-severe, control our impulses, learn from our experiences, ex-press our emotions, and create empathy for those who are less fortunate. What this means is that women are emotionally wired to think about how they feel in a way that men aren't. Because men are not wired this way, they don't tend to be as bothered by their emotions.

I should add that this analysis doesn't have anything to do with educational levels which are determined mostly by opportunities to further one's education.

Actually, men tend to excel more in a single field, and be 'smarter' in a single field. Women have a more varied intelligence and can be high achievers in multiple fields at the one time.
The highest IQ's tend to be from men, but then again, the lowest IQ's tend to be from men too. There tend to be more women around average intelligence than men, but fewer low/high intelligence women.
Men tend to be more competitive, which is why they reach so high. Whereas women see that over-competition is not fruitful and they just adapt and do something else.
Of course, there are gross exceptions to the rule.

[Also, our brains are actually very different, chemically and physically, so we shouldn't even be comparing them in the same way... We're 'differently' intelligent in equal ways - is probably a good explanation]

Smartness,I think, means outwitting. If this is the definition then men are at the receiving end. Men are arrested some 24 times more often, they commit suicide one and half time more often. In average women live longer but meet much less accidents than men.
