Hi there...there many levels of why people are cruel to animals. Some are just not aware of their own actions and then there are those people who intentionally hurt animals because they enjoy hurting things, or because it makes them feel powerful. Many of these people would hurt other people if they could get away with it, they just choose to hurt animals because animals are more helpless than people.

Why do these people do this? There are different reasons. A lot of these people want to have control over others. They will hurt an animal because they think this means they control the animal. Or they may hurt the animal to control another person. For example, a husband might hurt the family's pet to show his wife what he could do to her if she doesn't obey his commands. Someone else might make his dog kill other dogs because he thinks that makes him powerful.

Others simply enjoy pain and violence. Those who enjoy violence might also destroy inanimate objects as well as animals and people.

All of the people in this last group suffer from serious, psychological problems that will probably not go away on their own. They often need the help of licensed professionals--like a psychologist. No one is 100% sure why people become like this--most are probably born with their problems, but others can get their problems from brain damage, poisonous environments, or by being treated badly themselves. Without help, the psychological problems these people have can haunt them for their whole lives.

They should learn that what they do to those poor animals is unacceptable and very cruel. They should take a visit to those animal care center and realize what they have done.

Hmm, that's a great question. I don't think there's a for-sure answer, but I would guess because animal abusers think that it's funny. Animal abusers think it's funny to watch an animal get hurt, and that is just WRONG. They need to learn to have respect for animals.

This is a generalized question. Most people are NOTcruel to animals. Cruelty to animals shows a lack of empathy and compassion. People who lack enough empathy are considered sociopaths....and well sociopaths are not just cruel to animals.

The cruelest case of Animal abuse that I saw was in China. A stray mother Cat found her young kittens shot and stamped on. Why would anyone do such a thing? You could see the sadness in her eyes. She was probably crying, like any Mother would. The cat and kittens were well known in the neighbour hood. I feel so sad right now that I want to cry.

I think because they are cowards and have to hurt something that is more weak than them. The animal in most cases can't defend themselves and say if it is a dog that is being abused and it tries to defend itself, that just infuriates an abuser and it gets worse. I wish the animal could defend itself against this and kick that peson's butt!!

Because animals are unable to speak up, and they are just gutless excuses for human beings. I am the owner of a grey 8yr old cat that recently got shot in the leg by some idiot. We had her leg amputated, and she is still as independent and happy as ever. KARMA.
