I just found out my dad was lying about my mums blood type she is A+ . Thanks for all your comments and advice, its upsetting that my dad would be so evil as to try to piss me and my mum off. but looking back at my grandparents blood type we worked out she would have to be A and my step father confirmed it by ringing her doctors who had it on file..

Based only on the phenotypes, this should not be possible. Your mother would be OO--, and your father could be OO++ or OO+-. So it's entirely possible for you to be rh- if your father is the latter, but there is no A anywhere to have been passed on to you. However, it's not actually impossible for this man to be your father. There is a very unusual medical condition called the Bombay phenotype. A person with this genetic marker cannot produce the antigens associated with A or B blood types, so they will always test as type O, no matter what their ABO blood genetics really are. So if either of your parents has the Bombay phenotype or hh genotype as it is also called, then they could actually have AB or A genes, and have been able to pass the A gene on to you. You can have both of your parents Hh typed to rule this out, or have a DNA test with the man that raised you. Whatever the results, I hope you're able to have a healthy relationship with your parents after this.

Well, I guess its time for a good and calm family meeting. Your blood type tells the fact that there is something that you dont know yet. Two O's dont produce a A......its simple that the kid has to be matched to one of the parents blood type. Before you try to even findout please do realise that you may not like what answer you may get or even if you will get the correct answer. there are lots of things to consider and all may not be in your favor or for your parents and family. If youare happy and love them then let it be if not then these will heart breaks. Talk to your dad to find out why he decided to piss your mum off at a time such as your wedding and to tell you this information.

Please please think this through carefully because once you ask ... there is no turning back. There may be a simple explaniation such as you may be adapted from another family (mum and dad couldnt have kids so a family member helped by giving their baby for the uncle and aunt to raise (uncle and aunt being your mum and dad of this time) or maybe he is your step dad and you dont know it. etc etc but the possibility is that you may get a answer that may be completely heart breaking and destroy your parents life and marriage as well plus your life will change FOREVER. Thread carefully for its a very delicate matter. Oh man.........I wouldnt wish this kind of situation on my worst enermy. This is very very hard and I feel for you. Good luck and I wish you all the best.

One parent with O+ and one with O- can make babies of only O type, though the child could be either + or -.
If you are A- and one of your parents is O+ or O-, the other MUST be either A or AB, + or -.
So, if everyone is telling the truth and they are correct about the blood types involved, one of your "parents" is not.
Sorry.

Its not possible. O- and O+ can only give rise to O- or O+. Sorry for this but to have A or B, at least one of the parent must have A or B since A & B alleles are dominant.
