At my gym I do see overweight people working out. Don't let skinny people stop you or make you feel less important. Just Do It!!! You will feel so much better when you start exercising. Trust me they have just as many issues as you, just in different ways.

I go to the gym. 1 year ago I was fat. I was so uncomfortable, it's like there was no one there my size but I wasn't there to make friends.... so I kept going and I skipped often because I was embarrassed. I still go to this day and I'm MUCH smaller. I look at the folks there that are heavier and remember that was me not too long ago. If there is no one entering that has a weight problem then there is something being done on the inside that has made that way. I felt the same way at one time. Just go sign up and learn from the best, and one day you will be watched leaving the gym with someone saying.... "There's another skinny person"

I've been working out in gyms for nearly 20 years now(I started at home).Yes there are overweight people in every gym that I've ever belonged to.I have not seen any outright abuse or criticism of these people but some idiots may make comments to their friends. The fact of the matter is many people will try to help you and be able to guide you and answer your questions. The quality of the work out that you'll get in a gym as compared to home is far superior.Lifting weights first then doing light cardio has the most positive impact on fat reduction because you deplete your glycogen supplies first then tend to target fat afterwords. The fact of the matter is that you're doing it for you and that's all you should worry about.Don't forget that proper diet works hand in hand with exercise. So good luck.

Yes I've been laughed at but not because of what I look like, just because I was using the treadmill wrong, ha. I think the least budiest time to go to the gym to work out is when everybody is AT work. Lots of people go to the gym after work. So maybe before or a little after lunchtime is a better time to go.

Don't worry, you will not feel like that for long...
My ideas? Try to do 200 minutes of cardio a week. Remember fat does not turn into muscle, so you need to lose your fat while putting on muscle. Work hard, but don't over 60 minutes at a time. Do planks and other abs exercises on alternate days.
On training days, do 5-10 minutes of cardio to warm up, then do your weight training. Do 30 to 60 minutes more of cardio, then go home.
The best time to eat is just after your workout within an hour when your metabolism is raging. For your muscles, incorporate some isolated soy protein or whey protein. Whey is more potent but the soy tastes better!
Don't look at your scale as the be all and end all, but get a measuring tape to check your progress, and that will show more tangible results.
Read magazines like Shape, Womens Fitness, Fitness, etc to get tips and to stay motivated.
Good luck and stick at it. This plan has lost me 20 lbs in 12 weeks so far, just go for it!

It's very intimidating if you haven't been to a gym before to see skinny people coming out of the door, but the only way you re going to be one of those skinny people is if you start going right now.once you get in there you will see people of all shapes and sizes just there to exercise, not stand there and judge you they will be to busy with what their doing themselves.you may even make new friends. once you get over the initial induction and go on your own a couple of times you will start to grow more confidant and not be so bothered about others who train there good luck.

Yes. Fat is probably what half the thin people in the gym were before they starting going to the gym. Don't worry about the other people. Go to one where you know no one. You'll only see them at the gym and if they are saying or thinking rude things about you, they'll eat their words when they start to see YOU getting skinny. Good luck!

The fact that you call the people entering the gym "Skinny Rich People" leads one to believe that it is you who has the issue, not the people in the gym. If you want to assume that they would treat you poorly, no one is going to talk you out of that, however, yes, quite often there are overweight people in the gym.

Yes, I see a lot of overweight people in the gym and I'm glad they're there! At least they are starting to take their health seriously and that's good! Most of the people there really just mind their own business ... so, don't fret! Start going to the gym!

Most people go to gyms to maintain a certain level. You can do better by getting a personal trainer or joining a club. My wife is not too big but she joined weight watchers and they seem to be effective as well as sensitive to men, women, and children's feelings and personal needs. I don't know your gender, but there is also alot of help on websites where you can get tips and keep track of progress. Don't worry about what rich turds think.
