I think that would be ignorant. What would be the purpose? That would be almost a dumb as banning the old cartoons that feature a character smoking.

I disagree completely.Because I think people are quite smart enough to realize whats bad and and whats good for themselves. The smoking scenes in films add to the drama and tension of the film which makes us feel its all real. Those who ape these scenes in real life must be either very very stupid or they just want to be noticed.

No!
In the Movie "Constantine", the main character was a chain smoker, dying from lung cancer. It was almost like an entire movie to convince people not to smoke.
I do think that tobacco sellers should go to prison for assisted suicide though.

I don't think we need to artificially sanitize society that much. Films usually depict actual happening in society--(albeit, sometimes they are hyper-exaggerated!). It's probably more important that smoking is not glamorized in film, but seen for what it is. . .

Why not? "Parents" have already shown their inability to raise their own children for many years now. The rule of "spare the rod and spoil the child" has been shown true many times.

No, because I was thinking of making a short recurring(monthly) film of me finding unsuspecting smokers in public places and whacking them on the head with a huge foam rubber or inflatable mallet. Wanna be my cameraman?
