Being a good person specifically isn't a sin but many of the things Good people do are sinful. It is a sin to be tollerant of the beliefs of Non-Christians. It is a sin to accord those of different sexual preferences any respect or dignity. It is a sin to abort an unborn child reguardless of how overpopulated the planet becomes or how grim the prosects of that child may be. It is a sin to provide someone an orgasm that is not required for propagation. It's probably good sense to worry more about being a good person than a good Christian if you don't believe in Jesus's divinity.

blackjesus,
I think that these verses answer you:
Romans 3
19Now we know that whatever the law says, it says to those who are under the law, so that every mouth may be silenced and the whole world held accountable to God. 20Therefore no one will be declared righteous in his sight by observing the law; rather, through the law we become conscious of sin.

The Law condemns us. Through Faith we fulfill the Law because Jesus accomplished the Law, and became the atoning sacrifice for sins.

So no. You cannot observe the Law and be saved. Peter said something to that effect:
Acts 15:7 And when there had been much disputing, Peter rose up, and said unto them, Men and brethren, ye know how that a good while ago God made choice among us, that the Gentiles by my mouth should hear the word of the gospel, and believe.
8 And God, which knoweth the hearts, bare them witness, giving them the Holy Ghost, even as he did unto us;
9 And put no difference between us and them, purifying their hearts by faith.
10 Now therefore why tempt ye God, to put a yoke upon the neck of the disciples, which neither our fathers nor we were able to bear?
11 But we believe that through the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ we shall be saved, even as they.

Actually Peter nailed it. Unfortunately, thanks to James, they didn't listen.

Hey, everyone has their own beliefs and that's okay! I hate getting preached at too, so I'm with ya. All I have to tell ya is that from what I know about the bible and all, it says that it takes more than just being a good person. It does take that accepting of Jesus Christ into your life in order to get to heaven one day. And then of course living out the scripture and teaching it to others, etc. You know the drill. But then there's also the whole fired up side of it too. Jesus was a great man, but also God's son and came to this earth perfect and lived on this earth perfectly. He never sinned on this earth. Partly because he was here on a misson to save people from their sins, partly in order to bring others closer to God, and partly because there were people who needed to see what living a life of Christ really meant. He really was one of the greatest teachers in the world!

well youre question is a serious one and if you beleive in god you have to realise that the story of jesus was set in pace centuries before he was born in a promise form god the father now its dependant who you consider god but the god i worship sent forward a son and his name was jesus christ and as for preaching john 3:16 is not the scripture that should concen you the passage is that no man shall come unto the father accept through the son and in final being a good person is not a sin failure to recognise gods gift his love his son is the ultimate unforgivable sin

If one of those laws is to believe that Jesus is the Christ, then how can you live in accordance to all the laws. And which laws do you want to adhere to; the old laws or the new covenant?

You should live however you want to live. If you respect others' individual rights, then you are not a sinner or a bad person. I never understood why personal beliefs make a person good or bad. It's only actions that matter

Jesus wasn't a "great man", he was full god and fully man, he is the savior and messiah, he created you, he is the word, 1John, all was created through him. No, you can't get into heaven on good works and the law, otherwise Jesus died for nothing. Why wouldn't you bow and worship the one who provides everything you have? You own nothing, he gave you everything, money, job, car, etc. We are saved by grace through faith and not by works lest any man should boast of his good deeds.

You do not accept Jesus as your saviour. You have to repent, be baptized in Jesus' Name, and be filled with the Holy Ghost.

Act 2:38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
