No, but this problem is very complex and there aren't any simple answers.

Among other things, it is very difficult for companies, particularly small companies, to do an accurate verification on citizenship status. It is trivially simple to fake a SS card, and getting a driver's license is easy enough.

No, however I'm trying to understand "why" they do.

What kind of businesses employ the majority of illegals? It's not the corporations, it's small businesses.
How many small businesses left the country when Clinton passed NAFTA? I'm guessing the number is small compared to the number of big businesses, especially compared to the number of jobs. What kind of businesses had to pick up the slack, small. How did some cut costs, by hiring illegals. How is it every year, so many people from places like; Jamaica & other Carribean Islands, Ireland, Scotland, Eastern Europe, come to work legally for six months, then return home. They do this year after year. Why do they make an agreement and honor it?
Why do illegals, get to work year round with no agreement? Why, after they've come illegally, are they trying to get US to agree to let them stay? Why do so many illegals claim they're "just here to work", also just having families? Why should illegals be allowed to take jobs that could be filled by foreign workers who honor their agreements? Guess who works harder, understands/respects and appreciates our laws?
If an agreement is made prior to entering the country, it's right for a business to employ them.
Without an agreement, there will always be misunderstanding.

It's not right. It's against our laws and putting Americans out of work. Although our president says," they do work Americans won't do", it's a lie. In my own town we had illegal construction workers, doing construction work for $15.00 an hour, with no taxes taken out, health care, etc. I don't know to many Americans that won't do construction, painting, carpentry, landscaping, housekeeping, etc.. It's the middle class that is hurt the most by illegals. The ones that need the most help, because they aren't rich enough or poor enough to get help. I'm not talking hand outs. I'm talking services at reasonable prices. Our health care has more than doubled since Bush is in office. Electric, oil, gas, have gone up greatly in price. The average working person is one month away from being homeless. Every week in our paper we have an average of 10 sheriff sales. The elderly are also losing their homes, spending all their money and descending into poverty to support the cooperation's. We have a government who looks the other way as our borders are crossed , drugs are brought into the country and it's citizens are stripped of their rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. All the while the cooperation's are pocketing billions. America is being destroyed by poor management of our government and not obeying our own laws. While drugs are brought across the border in the south, our government has stopped lower priced medicine from coming across the border in the north. We now have a government who will enslave it's people to bring billions to it's cooperations. This is not the country our fore fathers envisioned, and put their life and property on the line to secure .

Absolutely not!
Corporate America CEO's astronomical salary ($10-20 million, may or may not include stock, plus other perks), mismanagement (lack of knowledge), which leads to downsizing.
Citizens who have been in this country for over 100 years are losing a feasible standard of living, health benefits, pension and retirement funding.
Corporate America does have the financial means to do background checks. They choose not to, because undocumented illegals will do the same job and some, at a fraction of the cost.

NO

Hiring illegal invaders at wages lower than American citizens are accustomed to earning for the same job causes a decline in wages and also a decline in quality of life.

Hiring illegal invaders at low wages makes them eligible for federal assistance which is in essence a supplemental form of support paid for by the very tax payers that the illegal employees replaced on those same jobs.

Businesses and corporations hire illegals for self profit. They don't care about the legal citizens of the USA nor the welfare of the illegal invader. They hire the illegal at slave wages, and refuse to pay Americans a livable wage for the same job. They know the illegal will get welfare to supplement the low pay. They could take a cut in THEIR salaries to offset the pay given to American citizens and get better quality workers and TAX payers in the deal.

No Ive worked where almost all the employees were illegal and at that time I felt sorry for the workers and thought it was good they were hired but these companies abuse people badly.Every week they had to give the boss twenty dollars because he charged to hire them since their papers were bad,THe foreman was Mexican himself I guess it was his little side business, abusing his own people. He would also beat them when he felt like it.He finally got fired for that after years of abusing them.He used to scream at us and call us whores.what could I do I was the only white girl there that day. They would also get large orders and we would work from 6 am to 1 am with no AC or heat. That 19 hours straight. It was awful all the girls were crying or laying over there area until they had to start packing again.they got maybe 30 seconds or 1 minute to rest. Its abuse and they didnt pay any of us overtime.Because they were all illegal and if I wanted to raise a fuss There was always another illegal to take my place. They just abused us all because they could.

No it is not. Illegal immigration will cost EACH American tax payer approximately $95,000 over the course of their life. That is a house.

By hiring illegals at artificially low wages, they are driving doen fair wages for American workers. Hiring them encourages them to come here and our schools are over crowded. English speaking native born, legal American children cannot get into many day care/Pre K programs because of discrimination FAVORING illegals.

Hospitals are losing millions of dollars and closing down because they use the emergency room as their doctor. Illegals pay about one third of the taxes that the rest of us do.

They lie on their tax forms when they are hired, often claiming 8-10 dependents, and thus they don't get the taxes removed from their checks. With a fake Social Security number and fake name, it is impossible to track them down when they do not file their taxes AND PAY LIKE THE REST OF US.

I could go on, but the point is that illegal immigration is threatening the very existence of America.

No, they should be fined if they hire illegals and eventually prosecuted following repeated violations.

The prospect of employment is what draws the illegal alien. Take a way the incentive for them to come to this country. Force them to become legal aliens and eventual citizens of this country. Taking away the employment opportunities and punishing employers is the only way to limit this scourge that our spineless government leaders have created.

It does not matter what anyone thinks. This issue has a limited 2-yr quasi-political use-life. You will hear a little about for the next 2 years, but after 2008 it will not even be mentioned. Best to stop mentioning it now, because its only function is get some votes.

Look, no one is working on legislation. If it becomes hot again, they will pretend to deal with it until they can drop it again. Any candidate running on this as a primary issue is running on no issues because this one has no legs.

No I do not think it is right. You would think that most corporations would have the means to do a better background check and discover the use of the illegal SSN's. Illegals should not be rewarded under any circumstances.
