it's terrorism...Of course they are calling it "self defense"...For everything they do they have one single justification "self defense"...They kill one year old children,it's defense...
they say they are fighting terrorism but their technique of fighting definitely resemble those of the "terrorists"...Israelis don't blow themselves up,'co US takes care that they have always the latest weapons...So while for the so called terrorism their bodies are weapons,Israel has all the weapons it wants to keep killing children and destroy countries...

I suspect you have knowledge about the conflict, and that you can present a different view than most Americans are used to hearing. I've done a little summary of what many or most Americans believe and have been told. Perhaps you can refute these beliefs in your questions and answers. Many of the statements below are fixed and solid beliefs in the minds of US citizens. Good luck, trying to get any other sort of view through!
In the US, most are convinced that Israel was just defending itself against terrorist aggression aimed at innocent Israeli civilians. This is just about the only side that was heard: Hezbollah, a group of well armed, dangerous terrorists, started the war by invading Israel to kill 8 soldiers and capture 2 others. It then fired thousands of missiles into Israel in order to kill civilians.
Lebanese civilians were only killed because Hezbollah used women and children as shields, Israel had no choice if it was to defend itself.
Any amount of aggression by Israel was justified because it was attacked first, and in this war, as in all wars, there is no such thing as disproportionate force.
Hezbollah never offered any cease fires, and its ultimate, and perhaps only objective is to wipe Israel from the face of the earth.
The Lebanese government also got what it deserved because it didn't have its army on the southern border and it had not disarmed Hezbollah, which was in violation of a UN Resolution -- Americans have only heard of the US Resolutions that Arabs violate..

Patriotism? Terrorism? More like a Rottweiler beating up a Chihuahua. I don't think there were bombs and tanks involved with bringing down the wall between East and West Germany. Killing women and children and destroying the infrastructure of a struggling country won't do anything but breed more fundamentalists.

The first rule of war: Young men/women die.
The second rule of war: There are going to be civillian casualties.
When you are fighting an enemy that is willing to hide behind civillians in order to cover their activies civillians are going to die. War is not terrorism, it is unfortunate for the populace to be sure. I just love the hypocrisy of these types of posts. Israel is bad, but not a word of condemnation for the actions of Hezbollah, who not only engaged in repeated rocket attacks against Israeli cities, but also loaded those rockets with assorted scrapnel to increase the body count inflicted. I find it very unfortunate that so many people cannot indentify actual terrorists, but are happier indicting legitimate governments instead. Hezbollah could have stepped out and fought in the open in classic warfare style, but this is not the tactic of terrorists, because they cannot win in a fair fight.
auld mom: You apparently do not realize how often we were close to all out hostilities during the Cold War, or how many limited conflicts were sponsored by both sides to carry out their interests. There is a very good reason why there wasn't an all out war with the Soviet Union, it is because it would indeed have been the war to end all wars. There is no victory from scorched Earth, both sides understood this, and the nuclear deterent worked to prevent that conflict. No one is saying that these wars have to continue, if the terrorists would cease their tactics there would be no justification whatsoever for sustained military action in these countries. However, they appear completely unwilling to do that. It is not Israeli citizens we see walking into crowded marketplaces and blowing themselves and anyone nearby to hell.

It's terrorism but a lot of Americans aren't willing to admit to the fact that their nation is guilty of state sponsored terrorism.

Dont forget that Israeli cities were attacked by artillery from Lebanon and many innocent civilians were killed. Israel had to defend itself and put a stop to the attack, if civilians were hurt in the proccess its only because the Hizballa used them as meatshields on purpose, bunkering their artillery and troops in civilian houses and cities.
