This idea is a misunderstanding of scripture.
Jesus has no intention of returning as a living human. He already did that.
This time Jesus is returning in the hearts of those who have accepted his message and try to live their lives to emulate his teachings. Few actually do this. It requires a radically different interpretation of love from the one understood by most so-called believers. Most people see love as something that you keep in reserve only for those you have judged worthy of it.
This is not love at all. This is only judgment. Judgment is the exact opposite of what Jesus was teaching. Remember judge not lest ye be judged. Jesus asks us to love our neighbor. Notice that there is no accept for in this statement. Every one is intended to be included in this love Jesus ask us to have for our fellow man. This type of universal application of love requires no judgment on our part because Jesus’' intent was that no one be left out of it.
This is a difficult pill to swallow for any religion that thinks of it's self as being the one true and only correct way to God. This idea of exclusivity is the exact opposite of the message of inclusively that Jesus gave us.
Attaining the goals that Jesus set for us may be difficult within the constraints most religions impose. This is why many who seriously try to emulate the true teachings of Jesus in their lives do not ascribe to any particular religious following. They follow the truth in their hearts where Jesus has taken up residence.
Love and blessings.

It is very clearly set forth in the Scriptures that Jesus Christ will bodily and visibly return to this earth. In the Old Testament there are prophecies which can be fulfilled only by our Lord's return. In the New Testament there are over 300 references to Christ's second coming. Christ Himself emphasized that He would come again. On one occasion He said, "And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am" (John 14:3). On another occasion Jesus said, "You will see the Son of man sitting at the right hand of the Mighty One and coming on the clouds of heaven" (Mark 14:62; see also Mark 13:26, Matthew 24:30 and Luke 21:27).
The apostles continued the emphasis on Jesus' return. In 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17, Paul said, "For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever." Revelation 1:7 says, "Look, he is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see him." The bodily, visible return of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ is the Christian's "blessed hope" (Titus 2:13).
This divinely predicted event (the Second Coming) may well happen soon. I urge people to obey the Scriptures, "say 'No' to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age, while we wait for the blessed hope—the glorious appearing of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ" (Titus 2:12-13).
While there are indications that we may be approaching a crisis in history, and biblical descriptions of the last days fit our times, it would be unwise to make any prediction about the exact time of Christ's return. When on earth, Jesus said, "No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father" (Matthew 24:36). The important thing is that we should be ready for His coming: "Therefore keep watch, because you do not know the day or the hour" (Matthew 25:13). Read also 1 Thessalonians 5:1-11 and 2 Peter 3:3-15.

No. It was a story in a book of myths and fables. None of it is true. But many people like to tell themselves that it is true, so that they have a sense of hope, albeit false hope.
You will hear lots of talk about the rapture, 2nd coming, etc. whenever things get bad in the Middle East. But world-wide nuclear war could break out and there would still be no rapture. Yet, xians would make excuses to say that god has his time & plan, etc. Much like how they excuse him for not coming back when the holocaust was going on when Europe was ravaged by the Nazis, or more recently, the World Trade Tower events, etc.

Jesus is now a heavenly king at the right hand of God. He will never again come to earth as a man because that is the sacrifice of his perfect human life that he made for us so that we would no longer die because of Adam and Eve's sin. He will, however, turn his attention to the earth, put Satan in the abyss, destroy all those who do not know God and those who refuse to obey him. Then, he will begin to resurrect almost all those who have died so they can be instructed and learn to live under God's direction.

I believe in Him, and He is coming soon.
The Bible says in the last days men would be living like they did in Noah's day, buying and selling, marrying and being given in marriage. That means they will be living as if nothing different will happen. But just like the flood changed things, so will the coming of Jesus change things. And who will be ready!

Jesus is as just permanently dead as anyone else who has ever died and is not coming back. Only fools are waiting.

No. Assuming that he even existed, I have no reason to believe that an ancient dead guy is going to come back to life

Because most of people's beliefs about Jesus are projections of their own egos, which are usually all about separation, attack, what's in it for me, judging others, etc. The real Jesus - not the one in the bible -- is all about love (same as god - again, not in the bible).
