Love, so much so that we do not get involved in war, and therefore get locked up, along with criminals and murderers, for refusing to kill others! But, no, we have Love and respect toward all ,not, only, toward, our own members! But yes you are right History does reveal that about most religions as it does about us suffering for refusing to kill a lot even were killed for taking that stand!

I'm pretty sure the Crusades don't come up in many modern sermons. Just because a religion has bad things in its past doesn't mean the modern practitioners are proud of those events. The Crusades happened a very long time ago and were brought about by people that are long dead. They have no bearing or influence on those that follow the faith today. Bringing it up over and over again is like saying, "Don't go to America. They used to own slaves."

Religion, in this case Christianity in particular, is based on Love. But the practice of this by many of our fellow man do not adhere to the precepts.
How many Christians have there been in the past 2000 years? And what percentage of them have participated in acts of bloodguilt? Or put another way...if your brother harmed or killed another person, are you also guilt of the crime?

My Religion is based on neither unless you count self-love as loving. Very few religions endorse the Love that they preach and all condone the Hate that comes from their teachings. Religion is based on control, not any sort of positive or negative emotion. If there were a feeling that was closely embodied in a religion it would be Fear.

My faith/beliefs is based on a Hebrew/Greek/Aramaic bible.
I do not follow any Organised Religion, their Religious Books have been re-written/parts omitted & parts added, 2 suit their individual cause.

& I know,

my religion is based on a sanctity for life. i have noticed however an increasing dependency on the god within and a complete belief in one's own imortality. perhaps this explains all the risks people take. maybe it doesn't.

"The purpose of religion," Baha'ullah states "...is to establish unity and concord amongst the peoples of the world; make it not the cause of dissension and strife."

What you say is true. I am a Catholic, and my religion preaches love and mercy toward others, and that is the way I will live my life. Whatever others Catholic do, is between them and the Almighty.

'think of what Jesus did for us. Gave up His life for a sinful world. Loved us so much even though we were sinners. Pure sacrificial love. To know that God Almighty the Creator of the Universe was born into this fallen world to die for us. He allowed Himself to experience the pain, torture and death and took our sins on His Body on the cross. So that we would live for righteousness. There is no greater love than what Jesus did for us. Unconditional, unfathomable LOVE.
