There has been lots of speculation over the years about whether or not a good cry will make you feel better. And I thought that’s such an interesting and compelling hypothesis there that it should be explored. It turns out a number of people have looked at this from very different perspectives, there’s an old tradition in psychoanalytic psychology of looking at the way in which affect need to be expressed and if it doesn’t in the kind of hydraulic sense it will build up and poison your organs and what not. And then there’s a more modern version of that, that argues that tears literally serve as a release of chemicals that build up during stressful times. And both of those predict that crying should make you feel better because you get out this tension or get out these chemicals.
Actually in conjunction with other people I’ve looked at trying to find out what are the conditions under which people say they feel better after crying and is there anything to this notion that crying pretty much automatically leads to feeling better. And it looks like the answer is fairly complex, that we don’t always feel better when we cry, there doesn’t appear to be much in the way of evidence that when we cry it’s a release of chemicals. And I think we’re starting to get a handle on why but still have a ways to go.

Because tears are somehow cleansing. They allow you to enter your emotions & express, instead of bottling it up. And, you're expressing yourself in a healthy, albeit sad, manner.

When we become upset, our brains and bodies overreact and work overtime by producing chemicals and hormones.
Crying helps eliminate these extra chemicals that we don't need.
The chemicals and hormones disappear from our body through the form of tears. As our tears flow, they sooth our sadness or distress by withdrawing these chemical agents. As a result, we always feel better after having a good cry.

The act of crying is actually an aerobic activity, which releases endorphins, just as physical exercise does. Crying is also cathartic, it releases internal conflicted emotions, and you feel less tense after it.

The Good Lord gave us certain abilities to keep our body
healthy. Emotions create real spiritual energies in us. Anger,
crying, shouting for joy, all these things allow our powerful energies to be released so we don't harm our bodies.

I think because a lot of axienty has built up over an incident--and then "spoof" we let it all hang out and the body feel relaxed---like when you need to tinkle and you hold it back for a long period ---then when you go it feels sooooooooooo good you "what a relief it is."
