First of all, there are many organisms on Earth. All of them take something as food and a living environment.

There is always a battle between many of these organisms. In our case, some want to feed off of or live in our body. This can be detrimental to health. When our immune system is incapable of dealing with these attacks we can fall ill.

Secondly, as we grow old, part of our bodies: particularly our organs, can wear out or become less able to support us. This can cause us to fall ill.

Thirdly, for some unknown reasons, probably including exposure to toxins, cells in human bodies can start to mutiply out of control: we call this cancer and it is another kind of illness.

Fourthly, we can ingest either food or toxins, or be exposed to radiation, cosmic rays, or other eminations that are detrimental to the function of our body and so we fall ill.

Finally, sometimes our body was not formed perfectly or has subtle genetic damage which can cause breakdowns of various kinds and, again, we fall ill.

That should cover it!
