Would we have a better society if fear was abolished ? Yes most probably.
Fear is definitely not greater than love. Fear is rooted in ego/self image. It is a mental contruct. You have learnt to fear things. Babies have no fear. They have a built-in knowledge not to fall from a height, but they don't fear it.
Love is evolution is progress. Love is the will to extend oneself for the purpose of one's own and another's spiritual growth.
Life is about your attitude and the choices you make. It is simple, choose not to be scared and rise above it.
People fear what they don't know. The more you learn, the more you can appreciate life.

No. Fear is a greater motivator. For example, you will study because you fear failing your exam and so forth. Fear from evolutionary point of view is essential for survival, i.e fear of predators. Love is good motivator as well. But i am afraid the majority of people do things because they fear the consequence rather than because they love doing things.

No, fear is only an illusion, but it seems to be a lot easier to follow the illusory path of fear.

Love takes some mental effort at first.

fear will never be abolished as there are many different kinds of fear. remember what F.D.R. said " there is nothing to fear but fear itself. " love can and will conquer all so love is stronger than fear.

You can't abolish fear, it's innate in us. What would the punishment be for someone being scared?

Fear, isn't greater than love. But I think that they exist in different domains. Fear, is necessary in our physical world in order to protect us. We would be harmed if we had no fear of Lions. Love, is intangible, but would transcend fear, and overcome it, where there was an interplay between those two forces, eg. you would ignore fear in order to protect someone you love.
