A dog will never forget past accountancies. Don't even have to be a past owner (they have no concept of "owner", they think in terms of dominant & submissive). So past accountancies are remembered as higher up in the Archy

I think that they eventually forget about them. I guess it depends on how close of a relatinship the previous owner had with the dog. If they had a really bad life then they probably forgot about them really fast. But, if they had a really good life, then they probabaly will always remember them.

A dogs memory of past people and scents is very keene. They will remember you and how they were treated. They relate scents with the memories they have so if you did them good they will remember that but if you did them bad they too will remember that. Fact is they will remember!

we had one dog who obviously suffered from some cruel owner becuase she would at times act very cowled when we scolded her and she hated any loud noises. We think her former owner before they dumped her was trying to make her a hunting dog. she was a good hunter but she didn't like guns.

They never forget people. I lost a dog thru divorce many year's ago and saw him ten year's later and he acted like we were together just yesteday. He greeted me with happy excitement like he always did when he lived with both both of us. Sorry he's not in your home anymore, you must really love him. Good luck.

Very very good.

Animals have a very good memory, especialy if you have hurt them before, they remember smell cos they dont see very well and they can pick up if your nervous or not.

Once they get a sniff of you, they'll remember, and start snarling at you just like before.
