Religion is a major factor in many wars if not most of them.
I don't know if it's possible for us to shake off the shackles of religion; but I think it's necessary, and a non-religious society is indeed feasible, and highly preferable to the current state of affairs.

No.
Some are caused by the need for more land. Others are caused out of spite and others again develop from the need to rule others. When religion is used to justify a war it is merely a matrix. An excuse to gather support among the uneducated masses ready to follow as sheep. Wars are used to play out the need in the human being to rule and submit. To be the boss.
However, today´s war on terror is out of self defense. To try to prevent Islamic rule to take over the free world. Self defense is strictly speaking not a war but to root out what is threatening you you have to develop activities.

Greed causes wars -- Greed for fortune, fame and power. Behind every so-called religious war, there were individuals using the cover of religion to gain control. Similarly, ecology and conservation are good things, but the radical groups that want conservation to be observed are unfortunately in the control of people who want to dominate and control. Ecology just happens to be the vehicle. Religion, ecology, politics are vehicles for these types of dangerous (to freedom) people. Do we ban ecology?
True religion does not cause wars. Love your neighbor is a principal of religion. Throwing this out would be detrimental to our future. However, here we go again. The dangerous (to freedom) people who want to control us, fill their media with the message that religion is the culprit. The constructors of the new world order obviously don't want religion in the new communitarian world. True religion is the opposite of control. True religion is about individual responsibility; Communitarianism is about communities -- there are no individuals. It is about control and the transfer of wealth to the ruling elite. They will want to control our very thoughts if they can. No, religion is not the culprit like they would want you to believe. Their agenda is control and that is the real problem. The ban religion movement is just used by them to stir the masses to do their wills. They don't want anyone to think like an individual. So they impress upon you the notion that the extremes of religion is religion and needs to be banned. The extremes of religion are not religion at all. They want you to throw out the baby with the dirty bathwater.
And you have no idea the degree of control we are talking about here. Just being able to walk alone to think and be by yourself, is a freedom that will disappear under communitarianism. You have no idea what it is like to not be able to go anywhere you want, to always be controlled every minute of every day. Your quota for the community will not diminish, but will be increased incrementally every year. Oh they will promise a wonderful new age. Buyer beware.

1. No, revolutions are not always caused by religion.
2. It would be nice, but, no.
3. A religion-less society ain't never gonna happen. Sorry, that's asking too much. Can you see the likes of Geroge w. Bush just saying one day, I denounce God and my faith? I know I can't.

Yes most of the wars are caused due to religious people, not religion itself !
Any thing vague, prone to controversy, full of doubts, is bound to cause disagreement, and this is bound to continue, since there going to be people at different levels of perceptions about the same truth, and the consequential distorted understanding of it being strongly contested and advocated !

No, I don't think ALL wars are because of religion. I think most wars are because of special interest of small groups in economic resources or ideology. However, there are many wars that are instigated for differences in religious belief, but as mentioned, certainly not all.

No war occurs for many reasons including unequal distribution of assets and politics. Religion is only one of many factors that could constitute going to war.
