Why can't you buy baked beans in brown sauce instead of tomato sauce?

because it would be disgusting? I'm amassive fan of brown sauce but that sounds really minging.

Because the sauce that is in beans is not the condiment kind of tomato sauce with loads of vinegar, but a blend of tomatoes and other ingredients similar to tomato soup. Brown sauce is a condiment which contains vinegar, so it would make the beans taste as though they were pickled. To experiement with this open a can of butter beans/chick peas and mix with brown sauce-see how good it tastes-NOT!!!

What is brown sauce?Here in the U.S. the way we usually make baked beans is to add stuff like ketchup,brown sugar,bacon,onions,mustard, and Worcestershire,sauce,etc.Then throw them in the oven for an hour .Yum! They're scrumptious.

I remember in the mid-1990's that HP did something very similar to that, and I remember buying them to try. I didn't think that they were that nice, and I don't think that the majority of the bean-buying public did as well. I am sure that within 3 years, they were discontinued as they did not sell as many cans as the manufacturers had hoped.

you can, boston baked beans are in a kind of brown BBQ sauce and are sometimes available in the uk.

Because I imagine 85% of people would think that idea rather rank! .. you'll have to make do with BBQ sauce
