Actually, I don't throw my cigarettes on the floor, ever. Now if I were to be outside it wouldn't happen either...I don't litter. I'll put my smoke out on the ground or "roll" the cherry off the end of it and stomp it out, and keep the butt in my pocket till I can dispose of it properly...Now if that cherry were to fall next to a snail or a beetle I would move the little critter or be very careful putting out the fire as to not harm it.

Isn't there a trashcan/ashtray anywhere?
Take the snail/beetle outside, poor things putting up with your trash.

I would crush the bug, but that's only because I am allergic to bugs. So it's better him than me. I would crush the smoke out too.

honestly...I've never had that happen before. I happen to look where I thrown my trash, especially when there is fire at the end of it.
