If you have to ask why some people think that Christianity is insane or believe that they only say, "Christianity is insanity" because it rhymes neatly, than you have several much more significant problems than the question you just asked and, I wouldn't even know how to assist you. Example: Someone asks "Why do people say they are afraid of escaped convicts?" If a person has no idea why someone would fear an escaped con they have issues far beyond the question they are asking.

As an atheist I will admit it is not insanity.
But you must understand how it can sometimes confuse us atheists. We see christians talking to people that no one else can see, saying they know what the future holds, claming invisible forces can take control of your body, making statments about history that has been soundly proven wrong, ect.........

"You believe in a book that has talking animals, wizards, witches, demons, sticks turning into snakes, food falling from the sky, people walking on water, and all sorts of magical, absurd and primitive stories, and you say that we are the ones that need help?"
- Dan Barker
"When one person suffers from a delusion, it is called insanity. When many people suffer from a delusion it is called Religion."

childlike minds like rhyming words ...it makes them think that they are cute, intelligent, witty, and sophisticated with an above average control of language..
also, people with limited intellect like short, simple things to memorize....words that are too big or too hard to pronounce or have too many syllables or too "foreign" sounding are difficult to learn
too many words in a row ...always a tough one
however, a theological, if not epistemological rationale' might be
found in the words of Kierkegaard:
"you must make a leap into faith"
I.E. you have to leave your rational, logical, reasoning power behind...so....like all religions....
faith operates outside of logical, rational thought
no logic, no reasoning, no rational thought???? sounds like a psychoses? neuroses?
NOTE...ALL religions are insane...they just don't rhyme as well

they think Jesus was white
and they say they promote only peace, but yet have killed more then any other group, nation, or agency.all the have are easy answers, no real questioning or search for truth is necessary. plus Jesus wasn't born on Christmas and Bunny's don't lay eggs, those are just remnants of how distorted and corrupt the propaganda machine of that religion has become

I never hard it before but if Christianity didn't have so many hard to believe truths in it everyone would want to be one. But as it is, Christianity seems insane to those not willing to accept it's beliefs and precepts as their own.

Christianity is insanity to people who are evil. Those living in darkness hate the light.

Rymming could be one reason.
Perhaps some of these people have been hurt by the betrayal, the broken promise, that the followers of this faith system have failed to incorporate the behavior talked to the bahavior walked.

Because to believe it you have to be insane? But seriously, I haven't heard it before, and it shouldn't be said. I have nothing against Christians who keep their religion to themselves, it's just the evangelical ones that bother me. I don't wanna catch the crazy y'know ;-).
