whenever you fart and someone catches your eye, you should stare them straight in the face and say "you filthy pig!"

I don't usually do it in public. At home I'm living with boys and they litterally like to share; they actually grab the air and put it under each others noses. Yes the smell carries if you do it fast enough, nasty.

First of all it's thought not thaught.
If you fart around your friends I hope you didn't do it on purpose. If you didn't do it on purpose then just apologize and move on. If you are in a public place and embarrass your friends or family then apologize more than you would if you did it in private around them. If you accidentally did it around strangers then don't say a word. If you apologize to them then not only have you disgusted them but you have also made them mad and or feel awkward.
If you are farting around people on purpose then just stop; it's gross.

I usually fart and then exclaim "JAI!!" (my son), Or "iain!!" (my flatmate.) They are well trained enough to say "Sorry.. : ("
