Making homebrew is actually quite simple. But dont listen to the person that said to add yeast to apple juice, I been there and done that and it takes nasty. Also it's not a "beer" since there's no malt in it.

Go to your local homebrew store and buy two six gallon buckets with lids, a spigot, an airlock, seven pounds of Pale Liquid Malt extract, four ounces of Cascade hops, two packets of dry yeast, 1 lb of Cara-pils malt, 1 lb of UK Crystal 60L malt, and a nylon sac. You'll also need a very large pot to brew in on the stove.
Start by heating up 2 gallons of water to 155 degrees. Put the Cara-Pils and the Crystal malts (1/2 pound of each) into the nylon mesh sac. and place in the pot. Let the malt steep for roughly 30 minutes. Remove the sac of malts and place in one ounce of hops and all of the pale malt extract. Stir well. Then add hops every 15 minutes till the brew is finished at 60 minutes. Actually put the last ounce in five minutes prior to end. When the brew has reached one hour and is done take off the heat and put in a tubful of cold bath water. THis will help the "wort" to cool quickly for when you pitch the yeast. Now time to sanitize your primary fermenting bucket. Add a few tablespoons of one-step cleaner and a few gallons of water, shake around and let sit for about 10 minutes. Dump that out and fill the bucket with the cooled off "wort" . Pitch the yeast. Fill the airlock with water. Stir the beer well. Put on the lid with the attached airlock. Let sit in a room in your house that's around 70 degrees. Usually a bedroom closet works well.
This will make you an excellent american style pale ale.

All you need to know about making beer at home is here:
http://howtobrew.com

Do a google search for home brewing supplies in your area or order supplies online. My favorites supplier is http://morebeer.com

You'll know everything there is to know about making good beer at home after doing both of those. You will also learn what malt is, what the yeast does, what the importance of sanitation is, and so on.

Adding yeast to juice is essentially making cider or wine. You can't make a malted anything without....you guessed it, MALT. Using baking yeast will make cider/beer/wine, but it will taste nasty because it isn't produced for that purpose. It was made for...you guessed it again, BAKING.

If you're wanting to make a malted liquor at home, simply add a packet of baker's yeast to a sealed bottle of apple juice and leave out for a month. You must release the pressure inside the bottle daily or it will explode! Any drink with sugar can be subsituted for the apple juice, including tea or juice, but apple juice works like a charm!
