I would tell people to run from Depo. I was on Depo and everything went fine for the first four months. Then I decided to come off of the shot and had a menstrual flow everyday for three months!! I also worked in a clinic during this time and met a girl who was in the same predicament as I was, she had been on her cycle for 8 months. We had to put her BACK on the Depo to stop her period. Depo can also cause weight gain (I put on 20 pounds) and in some cases can cause alopecia (baldness). In rare cases, it's permanent. Trust me, it's not worth it. If you are considering long term birth control, try an IUD. They have caught a bad rep because of some flaws they had back in the 70s, but they are perfectly safe now and have the highest success rate of any form of birth control. I have the meridian implant for 5 years now and I LOVE it.

Well I got it because I wanted to stop having my period. Instead I had my period all the time so my doctor gave me another shot about a month in to stop the bleeding. It didn't work. So I ended up having my period for about 4 months. The other doctor there finally found out and told us that this can sometimes happen.
You could always try it because it seems to work well for some women but if you have heavy periods regularly you may bleed through like I did.

If you mean the depo shot, no...it has a higher risk of sterility, stops your menstrual cycle for a long period of time and unlike what they say that is soo bad for a woman. You also have an increased risk of chest and facial hair due to the increase of testosterone and lack of estrogen.....and Yes I have seen many women who now have to shave their face because of this depo shot. Not pretty...

Not for everyone, but go ahead and try...maybe you are not like me...I was spotting for three months...then my doctor said to get another shot, ....she thought it was only because it was my first...instead I was spotting every day for another three months...it was like having a very light period for six months straight I tell ya!...it was ridiculous. Maybe you won't have that problem...so don't be scared to try now. Each of us is different.

That depends on you. Are there unpleasant signs & symptoms? You should consult your OB-Gyne, nurse or a family planning technician.
