Funny answer: so people can't hear what a terrible singer I really am.
Serious answer: because running water stimulates you and causes you to feel free and inhibited so hence we sing in the shower

Anything and everything.......generally something i've got stuck in my head....although atm, the shower doesn't work, so it's baths.....i still sing in the bath tho - this morning it was "who will buy this wonderful morning?" from Oliver! Omg.....baths are horrible - it's just stewing in your own filth! It's ok for relaxation, but not for getting clean.....:s

I don't sing in the shower, I do a "Curly" routine from the 3 stooges where I'm both "Moe' and "Curly" and I slap myself around.

The best, by far, is 'La Vie En Rose'.
Make it a bit warbly (closer to Edith Piaf than Louis Armstrong), and when you get to 'rose', make sure you have a mouthful of water, and REALLY roll the 'R' - it's almost semi-gargling. Then spit, rinse and repeat.
It's worth getting evicted for, trust me.
