As the baby grows, Mother's milk is not enough to complete its needs of energy and nutrition. Hence after 6 months, the supplementary feeding is started. Unitl then exclusive breast feeding is enough.

It is necessary as the requirement of a few nutrients like Iron and Vit C increases.
