The basis of atheism is trust in ones senses, not faith. The basis of atheism is empiricism not faith, not tradition, not in coercion. The basis is data, factual information, and an interest in learning new things and exploring the world and thinking as contrasted by the rote recitation of mumbo jumbo that is primitive and barbaric.
Some of the benefits of atheism are peace, real peace. Since atheists usually believe that this is the only life they will ever have they want to make the best of it right now, no 72 virgins, no pie in the sky. It's all here and all now.
Second, benefit is not being afraid of a thug in the sky. We are realistically fearful of religions nuts right here, right now no matter what religion.
Third benefit is knowing that morality springs from our relationship with our fellow man and we need to negotiate to protect each other.
Fourth benefit, we do not believe that there is another world so we are more sensitive to preserving this world so we can pass it on from generation to generation and not just trash it because of some fantasy Apocalypse.
I could go on about not being intimidated by a bunch of dumb a s s religious nuts but you aren't interested in that because your question was rhetorical garbage from another religious nut.

It wont make much of a difference they are both wrong. Seek God, not your favorite benefits of a religion.
