There is a psychological premise to this:

It's a throwback to the days when men primarily did the dirty work involving loud, dangerous machinery. If you want to go back even further, in most precivilized societal groups (cavemen), the men did the 'dirty' work of hunting and providing defense for the group. It still carries over today because of the male/female gendertypes passed on by our parents.

However, to be fair to us guys, the opposite is true for you womenfolk, most women I know couldn't give a hoot less about cars, as long as they push the gas pedal and it goes.

But somebody's got to fix 'em.

See some hindi movies from yester years. Like mr:india and try to divert his attention to' those' things, surely there will be a change in his attitude. Long trips could also help u a lot,wet ur dress while he is cleaning his car, thus adding glamour to the moment. Never make any bad comments on automobs.

I think lust is the real remedy for this mania.

Get used to it, or find a gay guy. Personally, I STILL eat, drink, and sleep cars, and I'm sort of a senior citizen. If it's in your blood, it's there to stay.

Maybe you could find a computer geek who doesn't care about cars.

What do you WANT, someone who only thinks about YOU?
That could get old fast, don't you think?

If you're annoyed by his habbit, try doing something similar around him to make your point. Go on and on about cute movie stars, singers, jewelary, and so on. He will be sick of hearing it soon enough and you can politely remind him you feel the same way about him talking cars all the time around you.
