I have a desktop computer. My brother has installed several programs(about 1.5Gb) on it's D hard drive, the windows had istalled on C Hard drive, I have stored so many data files(about 2Gb) on F hard drive, now my computer's performance & speed has slowed down.
please judge between me & my brother. which one of these two are more effective on decreasing the computer's speed, programs which enter the Add/Rrmove Programs part in control panel or files and datas that only stored in a location on a hard drive?

you can fill a hard drive and the pc should act the same
as long as you have some room to spare.
mayby the problem is to many programs are running at the same time .alt/ctrl and delete at the same time brings up task manager under proseses you can see everything that is running dont switch off any that have system next to it.
another thing that people dont realise is the amount of icons on the screen apart from recycle bin i have none.
i have tested this by putting icons from all my programs on the screen and when you bring up a program they take longer to load
than when your screen has no icons

the fault is of none...
there are some softwares which require a lot of space on the ROM like norton antivirus 2006,Spyware doctor etc.The reduck the space on rom so other programmes dont fit in it and take a long time to be procedded. Uninstall useless or heavy softwates from yor computer even from D: and F: drives and feel the difference.

Cleaning out your Internet trash files in your profile and c:\windows\temp, plus all *.tmp files that your system will allow you to delete. Empty the recycle bin after deletions.

Go to run, type msconfig, uncheck start up files that you do not use most of the time.

Defrag the Hard drive.

usually almost everything is downloaded on the c drive...i bought another program yesterday for this computer..i was experiencing the same thing...but it still does not fix everything...but i think it is better anyway...so you may think about doing something like that....tune up utilities is a pretty good program..you get 30 days free then you have to buy the program...but gives you a chance to see if you like it...i liked it myself..
