They don't care...In their minds they are the only ones exempt from being offended by something, however, for everyone else we have to live with their insults and offenses against us and not complain...

I think that they have the right to be angered. Even if it was a quote, not enough context was provided. I read the real words, understood that it was a quote, and still thought he was taking a potshot.
If you live in a Muslim country at the moment, it feels as if Christianity, as a whole, is 'out to get' Islam, as a whole. In thi
s situation, they're bound to be touchy. And the Pope had a logical comment about violence that he was trying to make, but got it warped by choosing the wrong source to quote.

The pope has problems with his memory. Yes it is true that Islam is a violent religion and kills innocent people and brags about this. Yes Islam is wicked. However the pope, who is only roman catholic and NOT Christian, has killed more people through the ages than any other organization! The Rcs have murdered and raped and stolen and pillaged Bible believing Christians because they would not bow the knee to Rome!
Christians have been burned at the stake for possessing Bibles by the RC church and the pope has instigated and supported every death!
What a hypocrite!

Seems like its the Muslims moaning again about how hard done by they are, probably start bombing innocents again for the good of Allah. If it was any other religion then that would be ok just carry on offending but oh no we dare not offend the Muslims, that would never do. Why are they so sensitive about everything, like the stupid cartoons that were published. If it were the Christians or anyone else it would be different, but oh dear the Muslims have to go burning down embassys and parading around London in suicide bomber costumes. WTF

if it was a quote, then he should have clearified, that he Does NOT agree with this view, instead he didn't. why didn't he quote the Persian guy who was suppose to defend Islam against this quotation of the emperor. pope left much to the imagination of the ppl, esp. catholics who hang on to each word of the pope, and already taught to Hate Muslims through church. it seemed very much implied that pope holds the same views as that emperor. Peace to All.

okay so this is what the pope said "Show me what Mohammed brought that was new, and there you will find things only evil and inhuman, such as his command to spread by the sword the faith he preached."
The pope was quoting a 14th-century Byzantine Christian emperor, Manuel II Paleologos.
In all honesty, I think as the religious leader of a billion people or so, you should really be aware of the quotes you use. When the pope speaks, in a sense, he speaks for all catholics. He should not have said that.

They are just words!! Muslims need to enter the 21st century and stop being offended by cartoons, words, pictures,or anything they do not like. A Muslim actually shot Pope John Paul II and we did not go on a rampage calling for the death of all Muslims.

HEY hasn't anyone noticed we are actually at war with Islam?
The Pope enjoys freedom of speech just like anyone else. Only fascists could be offended by his remarks.
